This place is a hidden gem. The owner did competition BBQ in Texas for. My daughter had the brisket. And I had the smoked wings. Both were excellent. The brisket was outstanding. What really sets this place apart however are the side bars both hot and cold and a great selection of complementary fruit. We will definitely make our back.

First of all the food had no flavor inside past the skin. The only flavor you get from the ribs is pepper. The brisket sandwich was more fat than lean and the bread was undercooked. The coleslaw was swimming and was too tart. The green beans had absolutely no flavor, $45 for nothing! I absolutely do not recommend dining here!!! You also can’t place an order over the phone because when you call in the call goes to the kitchen and they have no way of taking your order!!! The biggest thing is that there were no actual grills. One more thing, if your meal is not a sandwich then you have to pay a dollar if you want a roll!

Dont drive by too quickly or you may not see them down the hill! I have gone a couple times now and it is delicious. Nothing else in the area can compete. Quality food at a great price with lots of laughs the entire time you are there. Owner and employees are awesome… Also the pictures will speak for themselves when I tell you the large… is actually a LARGE.

Our family found this BBQ restaurant to be very welcoming. The food portions are enormous, and the options are plentiful. The menu includes choice of country-style buffet or a la carte sandwiches. The hot vegetables are on the bar with the meat of the day and fruit cobblers. The salads and puddings are located in a self-serve refrigerator at the restaurant entrance. The beverage options include Pepsi and Coke products and four tea varieties. A most refreshing fruit bar is complimentary for all who dine in.
Everyone in my party ordered the chopped pork barbecue ( sandwich or buffet) and the chopped chicken sandwich. The large chopped pork sandwich comes with a mountain of meat. The small sandwiches are not small ( at least 3/4 pound of meat).
The meat is definitely the star of the plate. The vegetables were a bit overcooked, and the macaroni/cheese dish was soupy. The slaw was a disappointing mixture of lots of mayonnaise and scarce bits of cabbage. But no one left hungry.
The counter employees and the service staff were exceptionally kind. The complimentary fruit bar was a treat of colorful,fresh, and top-quality offerings.
Ice Cream was also for sale in the lobby, but we were more than satisfied when we finished our meal.

If yall ain’t ever been to hillbilly’s Smoky mountain bbq in Newport literally run there!!! This is the sampler platter & you get the unlimited vegetable buffet bar and dessert for 3 people and 3 drinks it was only $52.61!!!!!!! We all brought home a Togo box completely full!!! This is hands down the best bbq I’ve had. The leftovers we will be eating on for days! Service was absolutely amazing!! When told we had never been there the owner put a piece of brisket on a plate and sat it on the counter for us to try. These people go above and beyond in making you feel like family. This is the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had my entire life.

A new restaurant for Newport opens its doors to a flood of flavor with great homestyle cooking. Besides a mountain of burger and pulled pork/beef sandwiches, Hillbilly BBQ has all you can eat buffet choices. We arrived on Ribs night and my dining companions were delighted with the flavorful, meaty, tenderness of the plentiful ribs. I, not being a rib eater chose the smoked chicken option and was amazed that it too was available as all you can eat even though it was not on the buffet line.
As for the buffet itself, the sides are homemade, country good. The mashed potatoes are real, not instant, and the carrots and creamed corn are are like grandma used to make. Collards, green beans and cobblers too. Many other hot options plus a salad bar with all the fixing, and a fruit bar that is fresh and inviting.
Last but not least is the staff. Lovely people who are quick with a smile and sweet as can be orienting us as first timers to all the options available. This is a family operation that is deserving of try. We’ll be back soon and I bet you will too.

The absolute best bbq I’ve ever had! I love peppery bbq which is what the ribs and brisket was. The bbq sause was the thick sweet stuff. The ribs were so tender they were soft haha! The turkey was moist, which can be hard! They even pulled the chicken off the bone for us. The staff was so friendly and welcoming! The building was super clean.
They did have a different kind of bbq buffet, as in the meats were behind their check out counter where they can keep it temp controlled and freshly slice it up! Our beginning portions were huge! We didnt eat supper haha! If you wanted more, just walk up to the counter and they’ll slice you more of the meats your ordered.
Not to mention the dessert at the front of the building. It wasn’t open when we came in for lunch, but you can see they have ice cream, cookies, shakes, and slushies. If you do the buffet, the apple pie was to die for! Sweet, crunchy crumbles, no skin on the apples, and oh so warm!

I was on vacation and wanted to eat local and we found this place as soon as we walked in one of the employees gave us a rib to taste and let me tell you THIS RIB❤️ . They treated us like family! They food was great and customer service was excellent as well! I would give this place 10 stars if I could and I would recommend anyone to stop by here if you want fresh from farm to table food. We really enjoyed this restaurant.
