I am so happy we now have a restaurant that serves Indonesian food in the Chicagoland. Everything that we tried was very good. We had tahu isi (Indonesian deep fried vegetable stuffed tofu), lumpia (Indonesian chicken spring roll), crab rangoon and fried wonton for appetizers. They were all outstanding. For main dish, we had nasi uduk and ayam goreng (Indonesian coconut rice and fried chicken), babi kecap (Indonesian braised pork with sweet soy sauce), Indonesian noodle with chicken and mushroom, Indonesian noodle with chicken, wonton and meatballs, and Indonesian fried rice. Again, they were all delicious. We also had a Mocha Lapis Surabaya birthday cake. It’s and Indonesian 3 layer cake. Very yummy.

We’ve been coming to Koo’s about twice a month and every time is outstanding! The chicken fried rice is huge, delicious and very flavorful. Crab Rangoon and beef egg rolls are excellent and always great reheated if there’s any left. We love their service and they’re super friendly-always taking time to thank us and invite us back. Customers for life!

Delicious karage chicken made fresh to order. The flavor and crisp was 10/10. I also got a braised egg which took the meal to the next level. I definitely will come back here next time in Chicago. The lady who works in the front was extremely friendly, enjoyable and tended to my needs while eating in the restaurant. This is a must try!!!

Not sure how people rate, maybe I am spoiled by having broader food experience.
Pros: very friendly, will ask about eating meat or not sm and will sub if you don’t without upcharge, clean
Cons: tough location to find easily, but plenty of parking, tiny (if you eat in there may not be seating), the prices for portion was a bit high, and the food taste was meh.
Unfortunate. First and probably last time visiting.

A great place to visit for authentic Indonesian or Asian food. They have menu not just Indonesian food, but also Malaysian & other Asian food. Perfect stop as well if you are on a road trip, usually from Madison, WI to Chicago, IL. Their concept is for ready to go (take away).
If you are not sure what to get, for first timer, try their Mee Goreng (Fied Noodle). I personally enjoy their Chicken & Mushroom Noodle (this is authentic Indonesian Wet Noodle, where we called Bakmi Ayam Jamur), Beef Rendang (Tasty Indonesian Beef Stew), Nasi Lemak (Malaysian Coconut fragrance rice, comes with Fried Chicken or Beef Rendang, Egg & fried peanuts).
The service is super fast & excellence!
SECRET TIP: Ask for their Sambal Bawang (Onion Chilli Sambal) dipping sauce to go with your food – if you really like super hot chilli. You dont ask, you dont get!

Great food! Their wonton soup is so flavorful . The shrimp fried rice was decent. I would definitely ask them to make it spicy. The texture was great, very well cooked. The woman who greeted me and handed me my order was also really nice! Will return!

Koo’s Bento & Bowl is an absolute hidden gem and my go-to spot for incredible Asian fusion food! Everything here is made fresh to order, and you can truly taste the quality in every bite. The chicken katsu bento is tender, flavorful, and served on a bed of perfectly cooked rice. The beef rendang, stewed for hours in coconut milk and spices, melts in your mouth, while the teriyaki chicken bento hits that perfect balance of sweet and savory.
If you love variety, their fried gyoza, tempura shrimp, and crab rangoon make perfect sides—they’re golden, satisfying, and never greasy. Portions are generous, and the pricing is almost too good to be true for how fresh and delicious the food is.
There’s limited seating, but that doesn’t take away from the experience—if anything, it makes you feel like you’ve found one of Rockford’s best-kept secrets.
The service is fast and friendly every single time. I’ve never had a bad experience here—just consistently outstanding food at unbeatable prices. If you’re anywhere near Rockford, you must check out Koo’s Bento & Bowl!

Had the chicken and mushroom noodle, was very good and authentic. Similar to the one in Indonesia. Portion size was big, definitely more than enough for one.
