PS..A month later…I couldn’t resist going back! Had the same thing—pulled pork bbq plate (piled high!) with beans and slaw. Just as amazing!! Yes, I do recommend ordering the extra 4oz cup of hot BBQ sauce!

Do not be put off by the sketchy appearance of the building. Sam has a saying “,If it ain’t wood it’s no good”. Well his stuff is definitely good with the wood. Some of the best BBQ you will ever have in your life. Nice tangy vinegar sauce. Bbq is slow cooked to perfection. I had baked beans and potato salad with mine and when I tell you it taste as good as Big Momma growing up I mean that. I wish I could give them 10 stars!
They open at 10am and at 12:30pm they were already out of ribs. I ordered a couple slabs for tommorow. If they are half as good as the pulled pork they will be a hit.

I had actually visited Sam’s a few years ago when I had visited a friend in Jackson. I didn’t recall what I thought of it, and he didn’t either except he thought he remembered the beans were good. So we decided to drive there and try them again. When we drove up, I expected to smell more smoke than I did. But it wasn’t to be. I actually like the feel of the place, the old building, not fancy at all. Very laid back, and the people working all seemed friendly. We sat down and They came to get our drink order fairly quickly. They have coke products in a fridge, so we ordered a couple bottles to get started. We were ready to order when she got back with the drinks, so we ordered. We both got the Jumbo BBQ plate lunch. (It’s Pork, and comes as a sandwich) My friend ordered coleslaw on his sandwich, I went without. The food was back relatively quickly so we started in. I actually tried the beans first, since that’s what my friend remembered. There was a good molasses flavor to them, but really nothing special. Not bad, but not great. The potato salad was good, but not great. Mostly average as well. Then I tried the pork. I was expecting more smoke flavor but there wasn’t much. Also, the pork was very tender, but overly so that it was just slightly mushy, as it was seemingly over cooked. But at least more juicy and not dry. But I was hoping for much more with the high reviews I’d seen. I tried the sauces. There wasn’t much substance to them. A vinegar based sauce but very thin and without a lot of flavor. The spicy barely had any kick to it, it was more a gentle touch. So overall just average food and I wont be back next time I visit, and I know my friend in Jackson will head somewhere with better flavor and less mushy pork. I really wanted to like it more, as it seems to be good people owning and working there, but the food just didn’t measure up.

Some of the best pulled pork I’ve had in DECADES! Overall, the service was well above average. My only real complaint was the fact that this place was in what appeared to be an old house that had been gutted on remodeled for use as a restaurant and it appeared to have been done as cheap as possible. But DON’T let that deter you from checking it out. My pulled pork sandwich was big enough for 2 meals, and the sides that I had were equally as big and as a brilliant young man once told me, “They were tasty and delicious.”

Absolutely amazing pulled pork. Honestly melts in your mouth! BBQ bologna was also wonderful.
Only complaint is the slaw tasted like it was store bought instead of homemade.

Sam and his staff were really nice and warm and welcoming. I got the rib sandwich but when it was served I was faced with bone in ribs and two pieces of bread. The meat was great but how do I make a sandwich? I guess that’s just how they serve it here. My wife got the one half chicken and it was extremely dry, look like it had been cooked a couple of days ago. The barbecue sauce was weird, maybe it was an old bottle.

OMG it was off the chain!! DELICIOUS!!! The best BBQ ever. The baby back ribs, the meat was so tender the meat just fell off the bone..Awesome atmosphere and very clean. The owner/staff are very friendly make you feel welcome. Bought a sweet potato pie it also was delicious. Highly recommended this business.

This right here is some of the BEST bbq I have EVER had! I ate all of my food before I even thought of taking a picture… Absolutely worth the stop, go out of your way to eat here if you have to. The chicken is out of this world, it might even make you slap ya mama.. proceed with caution.
