I love the hungry hippo. I have lived in alot of states and hungry hippo has the best sub sandwiches that I’ve ever ate and after sitting in the house for a week during the ice apacolypse here in north Texas I have been craving a sub sandwich from hungry hippo, so I walked down town and picked up a couple subs today. Thank you crew at the hippo, I enjoyed those subs, and thank you for being open in such bad circumstances. By the way the #22 sub is the best.

Boyfriend and I came to OK to go to Winstar and decided to stop here for a sub. Delicious! Everything was fresh, our wheat bread was nice and soft and it didn’t get soggy at all on our way back to our room. Will definitely recommend this place!

When I’m in Gainesville and want a sandwich, there’s no other place that comes to mind other than Hungry Hippo. It’s a small town sandwich shop that serves up huge sandwiches. The prices are great too.

My recommended sandwich: #22 hippo delight (several different kinds of cold cuts) and all the toppings “the hippo way” with the inside bread taken out “made skinny”.

Stopped here for a quick lunch. I wasn’t blown away here but it wasn’t bad either. The meats and veggies were fresh and sliced there. The bread was ok but a little stiff.

The food is just as good as I remember it from years ago. Used to eat here a lot when I lived in town and now that I know they are still open, I will be returning soon. The CoOwner was there and spoke with me when I was there. Grateful someone was kind enough to take over and keep it as original as possible. When you walk in it’s like walking into a 1970’s style location. LOVE the atmosphere and people here. Can’t go wrong with this place!!!
