I got a gargantuan sub at 7pm. Some of the meat tasted a little off and salami looked slightly discolored. I got up at 3am running to the bathroom with food poisoning. The gargantuan was the only thing I ate between 7pm and 3am and I was fine before that. Please make sure your meat is fresh and throw away anything that isn’t fresh anymore, instead of feeding it to customers. I will turn this over to DPH requesting a surprise inspection. Please make sure all of the food both served and stored are safe and sanitary by then. I expected better from Jimmy Johns. You made me sick.

Today, we irdered a cater delivery for a staff lunch. I appreciate that the store called to inform me how busy they were and would deliver the order within 30min. The order was perfectly prepared and absolutely delicious! Then, the icing on the cake was the driver returned with extra sides and cookies to apologize for the delay! Way to go a step above! JJ defined hospitality with their actions!

I recently stopped by Jimmy John’s on Scenic Highway in Snellville to grab some subs, hoping for a quick and satisfying meal. I’ve heard a lot about their reputation for speed and simplicity, so I figured it was worth giving them a shot. Unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired, and compared to other sub shops in the area—like Firehouse Subs and Jersey Mike’s—Jimmy John’s fell short in several key areas.

Food Quality: Mediocre at Best

The biggest letdown was the sandwiches themselves. While Jimmy John’s promotes “freaky fast” service, it seems like speed is prioritized at the expense of quality. The subs were bland, uninspired, and lacked the freshness and flavor that I’ve come to expect from a good sandwich shop.

I ordered a Turkey Tom, which is a simple turkey and lettuce sub, expecting something light yet satisfying. The turkey was fine, but it didn’t taste particularly fresh or flavorful. It had that generic deli-meat taste, the kind you’d get from a supermarket pre-packaged pack rather than freshly sliced turkey. The lettuce was limp, and there was barely any mayo or seasoning to enhance the flavor.

We also got a Vito, which is their Italian-style sub with salami, capicola, and provolone. While it was slightly better than the Turkey Tom, it still didn’t stand out. The bread was dense and a little too chewy, lacking the softness of a Jersey Mike’s roll or the toasted, hearty bite of a Firehouse sub. Additionally, the toppings were sparse. A great Italian sub should have bold flavors, but this one just didn’t hit the mark.

The biggest disappointment? The lack of customization. Unlike Jersey Mike’s, where they add their signature blend of seasonings, oil, and vinegar, or Firehouse Subs, where they steam the meat to bring out the flavors, Jimmy John’s subs are just… there. They feel mass-produced and uninspired, as if they were thrown together without much thought to taste.

Service & Atmosphere: Fast but Impersonal

One thing that Jimmy John’s does well is speed. They weren’t kidding when they say “freaky fast.” Our sandwiches were ready almost immediately after we ordered. While that’s impressive, I’d rather wait an extra minute or two for a better-quality sub.

The staff was efficient but not particularly friendly. There was no “welcome” when we walked in, no engagement, and no sense that they cared whether we were happy with our order. It felt very transactional—order, pay, get your food, leave. I get that Jimmy John’s is a fast-food-style sandwich shop, but a little friendliness goes a long way.

The restaurant itself was clean but lacked personality. It’s a basic setup with no real ambiance, making it feel more like a place to grab food and go rather than a spot to sit and enjoy a meal.

Comparison to the Competition

Having recently eaten at both Jersey Mike’s and Firehouse Subs, I can confidently say that those places offer a much better product.

Jersey Mike’s uses fresh, high-quality ingredients and slices their meats and cheeses fresh to order. Their subs have more flavor, and they offer customizations like their signature “Mike’s Way” with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, spices, and oil & vinegar.

Firehouse Subs steams their meats and toasts their bread, creating a much more satisfying, hearty bite. Plus, their portions are more generous, and their staff tends to be friendlier.

Final Verdict: Not Worth the Hype

Jimmy John’s might be good if you’re in a rush and just need a quick bite, but if you actually care about taste, quality, and value, there are much better options nearby. The subs are bland, the ingredients aren’t anything special, and the overall experience feels more like a factory line than a real sandwich shop.

Would I go back? Probably not. With Jersey Mike’s and Firehouse Subs in the same area, there’s no reason to settle for mediocre, forgettable sandwiches.

Store advertises the combo $1+ all over but apparently doesn’t work, very upsetting, just opted in for the sandwich alone. Didnt cut my sandwich like I asked and wasn’t very tasty.

I ordered two turkey tom sandwiches on sliced wheat bread. The cost was $8 per sandwich. I could have made this at home and saved me my money. Take a look at the pictures they look like a mini sandwich for kids. So disappointed!!!

I did dine in. Gave me wrong sandwich. Apparently mine went out the door with DoorDash. They of course fixed my order
**No exaggeration this is hands down the slowest Jimmy Johns I have ever been too. I come often because it’s the closest one. Every time it takes forever

I love Jimmy John’s. Idk what happened at this location but all the good staff left. Walked in and no one was even there for 15 minutes, even after I called out. I would have left but I had placed an online order before I arrived. When the staff finally showed up they continued talking on their phones and one just walked right back to where ever they were at in the back. It shouldn’t take over 30min for me to pick up a sub. Last time I order Jimmy John’s from this location.

Online order was placed, the location made the sub incorrectly and I didn’t discover this until arriving home. The #12 on the receipt doesn’t match the picture. Extra mayonnaise was add and missing all add ons. The store refunded the charges but I didn’t get my favorite sub. This location is normally great.

Only customer in-store, freaky slow. Ordered a slim sandwich. That’s just meat cheese, don’t even have to gut bread, then wrap. How come it takes 10mins and you want a tip too.

They need more staff. The young girls “running” it move slow and don’t know how to make the sandwiches properly. It used to be so fast that once you ordered, it was near ready at the other end when you got there. The wraps look very sloppy. They really need help.
