We were in this area on a shopping trip an are always looking for good Thai food, so when we saw the sign, we immediately pulled in to the shopping plaza. Being a little late for the lunch rush we were not surprised that the place was almost completely empty. We almost drove away as we thought they might actually be closed, to tell the truth, but luckily some people were seated by the window, so we knew they were actually open.

Upon entering, we were immediately greeted and led to a table and presented with both a dinner and a lunch menu. Somewhat to our surprise (and disappointment) the lunch menu features Chinese soups and spring rolls rather than Thai soups. Also, several of the dishes listed on the menu are Chinese rather than Thai. We asked about that and were told that the dinner menu features the Thai soups. While not really an answer, that was as far as we got.

We ordered one Thai dish from the Noodle section and one from the Rice section. The waitress asked us for a heat preference and we asked for a “6” on the 0 to 10 scale. I asked about spicing it up some more separately and she explained that after I taste the food, she would be happy to bring out something to spice dishes up. OK then.

The Hot and Sour Soup was brought out and was a disappointment. It was mostly sour with no spiciness to it at all. I asked the waitress for some hot sauce and she was surprised. I explained that the soup was certainly sour, but I wanted some heat as well. She quickly came back with a tiny bowl of Sriracha. While not what I would have done, it did help increase the spice level of the soup – but also the sourness!

The spring roll had just come out of the fryer, so we let it cool down a bit before going after it. It came with a clear dipping sauce that tasted like simple syrup – totally sweet. Luckily, we still had some of the Sriracha left and the combination worked well.

Our main dishes arrived and we noted that they were flavorful. Lacking in heat, but tasty. The other thing they were very skimpy on was in the protein elements. In both dishes we asked for chicken and could only find three or four small chicken chunks. There was still plenty to eat and we did end up taking some home for rewarming. The best thing about this meal though was that it was very inexpensive.

Overall, we thought the food was rather tasty and we would definitely want to give the place another try. Probably amp up the heat index to an 8 and also order from the dinner menu.

With having little kids that mostly eat nuggets and grilled cheese only, I don’t get much of an opportunity to have Thai food. I treated myself today and I’m glad I did. I used to work in Fox Chapel and go to the Thai Place there, and this one is equally good. I got the spicy noodles with chicken at level 7 heat. It’s been awhile so level 7 was spicy! The veggies and noodles were so fresh that they melted in your mouth. There was no one else in there when I ate there so please do yourself a favor and support this small business. You will not be disappointed!

Really good Thai food. The noodle soups are pretty good as well. I asked for Thai 10 spicy and it really isn’t that spicy to me at least. My wife will order at 3 to 5 and she can’t deal with it. The spicy chicken is really good as well but this time I had the pad thai with shrimp

A FOODIE’S FIND OF AN OUTSTANDING AUTHENTIC THAI .

There’s a large dining area with very pleasant ambiance. There’s also an open bar, with a separate wine list.

The menu looks very creative . While it’s a longish menu, it is very very easily navigable for more informed choices of food to savor.

other than the usual comfort Thai foods like Spring Rolls, Pad Thai and Green Curry, There’s a lot of unique creations.

there’s an unexpected re-invention of the otherwise horrid general Tso, a concoction that has been misrepresented/perpetuated as chinese dish. ….Here, they cook it with Thai flavors.

a most notable one is the Crunchy Pork Salad, highly textural with flavors of fresh ginger, onions, fresh cut vegetables and sautéed ground pork married together by a lovely lime vinaigrette.

the Chef’ Specials section is the best place to explore unique creations

the Crispy Basil Duck is absolutely divine: very crispy lightly battered boneless duck chunks on sautéed vegetables with a lovely fragrant basil sauce

the Basil Eggplant is exquisitely Thai: Japanese eggplant sautéed with mixed vegetables and lots of basil leaves in garlic sauce.

Service is outstanding!

Quiet place. Quick seating and quick service. I’ve been to quite a few Thai restaurants and so far they are either great or take it or leave it. Ordered the corn fritters and the curry puffs. The corn fritters were interesting and the curry puffs tasted good as far as filling goes but the puff pastry was underwhelming. The dipping sauce for both was great. For main dish I ordered the tamarind duck because I love pineapple dishes. They ask for spiciness level before you order. The dish wasn’t spicy at all when it came and I ordered an 8, but in the menu it didn’t seem as a dish where the spiciness level applies, so other dishes may be spicy if you order a high level, so be careful. It took some time for my main course to come out but the server did check on me while I was waiting, so that was nice. The duck was really nice. I would have that dish again. For dessert I ordered the mango sticky rice because I always have to get that at Thai restaurants, but also ordered the fried banana as I have never tried that before and I was curious. The desserts also took some time to come out and the place wasnt busy. The desserts were a bit underwhelming as well. The mango sticky rice was below average from other places and I had higher hopes for the fried banana. Overall the only dish that was really good for me was the duck. I would come back for that and because the service was very nice. But I do hope they work on their desserts as that is the the main thing that leaves an impression when you leave a restaurant.

The plastic utensils they include are baby size. I included a picture showing how small the spoon and fork they put. I don’t know how these takeout places expect us to eat their chicken/beef with such small utensils. I would suggest to include bigger and better quality utensils since they are asking already for tips even for pick up orders. I tried to tell the owner but he doesn’t understand English well. The food was OK, however, they put hot food in plastic containers which can cause cancer. They need to use paper or foil containers for this hot food.

Modest ambiance with Spectacular food. The beef salad was fresh, refreshing and so delicious that I ate it before I could even take a picture. Wonton soup was pleasant and the chicken satay was nice. The pineapple rice with beef and chicken was very well flavored. This is now our favorite Thai restaurant in North Pittsburgh

Excellent spring rolls and Pad Thai made for a lovely tasty meal. Nicely detailed Thai restaurant with many Chinese dishes on the menu as well, so family diners or couples out on a date should all be able to find an enjoyable entree. My wife and I will be back to sample more!

I got the Spicy Chicken lunch special and it was delicious! The purple rice was a nice touch also! I ate every last bit on my plate but not without a lack of effort. I made a negative review probably 8-10 years ago because 3 of us left still hungry…this was my first time back since then. I 100% would change that review now if I could find it!
