The owner is friendly, the food is good and decently quick, and the specialty punch is excellent. Definitely worth a stop for a bite to eat.
Was a Saturday. Which is significant because they have a limited menu on Saturday. Anything fried or grilled. No yams or other veggies that need preparation. Though, any other day, they have a veggie plate for less than $8.00.
Had the fried chicken, fried okra and homemade potato salad. Took time because they make it when you order it on Saturday. But it’s worth the wait! Hot and fresh!
The very nice lady explained that Saturday’s are their slowest day. So, instead of preparing lots of food before hand, they cook to order on Saturday. That way they aren’t throwing away lots of food. Hence why they don’t have a full menu on Saturday. Would like to see them become so busy on Saturday that they have to treat it like a Sunday.
She explained that Sunday is their biggest day. Probably after church lets out is my guess… Reference the pictures of the menus.
I never had Ox tail before, so hopefully I will be able to drive by there on a Sunday to try it one day.
This isn’t a fancy restaurant but is welcoming! Stark in a picnic type of way. My meal cost $10.50. It includes a drink. Not bad prices these days!
People were stopping by when I was there, just for the company. Also seemed to be many regulars walking in. ( She knew what they wanted as they walked in ) wasn’t phoned in beforehand. Guy walks in, before he said anything, she informed him that there aren’t any grits left. He said, I’ll just come back tomorrow, and walked back out… lol It was lunchtime… lol
Point, this is a place truckers can access for a good meal TO GO! This is truly hometown cooking and is good food. Unless you enjoy eating at subway three times a week… Treat them nicely and they will absolutely treat you the same.
I will be coming back here when I’m coming through this area. Leave a tip even if you just leave with takeout Truckers! This place needs to become a staple and it goes a long distance with customer service if you let them know they are appreciated. Two dollars isn’t going to kill you! Lol
