What a throwback in time when you walk in the Davis General store. It’s cozy and the staff were Southern friendly, especially when I walked in the door and they asked if I was hungry- just like my Grandmother used to do. The gas pumps still have the rolling numbers and you have to pay inside because the pumps are vintage – pretty neat! Since is was the holiday season, the store was decorated for Christmas with a full size sleigh on the porch. Next time I visit, I’ll show up hungry.

Stopped in for a homemade country Sausage egg and cheese biscuit. Choice of cheese, American, cheddar, pepper jack, etc. Flavorful sausage, GREAT homemade biscuit, and fluffy egg. No joke, probably the best Sausage egg and cheese biscuit I’ve ever had. That’s saying a lot. Nice guy behind the counter. Serve breakfast and lunch all day. I posted pics of their to go menus, but there are places to sit and eat! Will definitely be back!

A true time traveling experience to what a General store should be. Bought a shirt to support the store and will be sure to come back again and get some more goodies.
Truly a pleasant experience and I love stopping at stores like this across the country.

One of the best breakfast sandwiches you will find. Amazing hidden gem off the beaten path with friendly staff and great people. You never know who might swing by. Communal tables offers a great place to meet neighbors or rub elbows with a country music star.

I’ll start by saying that the staff at this place are very courteous and friendly, with that said, let’s dive into the food.
We ordered the turkey melt for both of us and while I don’t agree with the cheese selection they decided(cheddar? Provolone or Swiss is better in my opinion)for that I won’t hold that against them. I do however have an issue with the fact that the cheese was not melted when we got the sandwiches, see the picture. It was also very pricey for being what I would consider a typical turkey melt sandwich, we ordered two turkey melts and got chips on the side with two Gatorade and it was just over $42
The atmosphere is pretty well it’s a pretty decent little gas station there is only one restroom but that didn’t seem to be an issue when we were there. Out in the front, there are a couple of benches people can sit on and look at the cows across the street, there were some tables kind of in the center of the room to eat at, and out back there were a bunch of tables for people to sit out outside as well. There’s quite a bit of parking space there so parking wasn’t an issue.
I haven’t nixed it off of my list completely yet though because I saved this as a place to go because of the BLT and the Reuben for my wife and we both forgot to order those. So I will stop in there another time, and try those sandwiches, but I won’t be getting a side and drink.

We loved this place! It is a cute general store with a ton of history of serving local families for years. We stopped for a sandwich and were not disappointed. They serve all Boars Head meats and cheeses, and they make them right in front of you. My wife got a grilled cheese on sourdough, and I got the BLT, which comes with 10 pcs of bacon! The owner was very nice, and the 2 ladies that took our order and cooked our meal were helpful and fast in serving us. Wish we lived closer so we could come back often!

Spontaneously stopped for lunch and was so pleasantly surprised. The sandwiches we got were a great value. Loaded with great ingredients and great flavor. Service was not only very kind but also genuine. It seems everywhere you go now, customer service is centered around earning (or expecting) a tip, but the girls working were so sweet and helpful, and when the time came to tip, she swiped the option away without hesitation. It made me feel like the kindness we experienced here was just the genuine standard of how they treat customers, not seeking something more. I gladly asked her to go back so I could tip her as I was so impressed by the service we received. The atmosphere was quaint and comfortable. Kitschy enough to feel more like a date than a quick lunch stop but casual enough to not feel put on! Very happy we gave this place a try. Hope we’re in the area again soon to patron again.

Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. I got a chicken salad sandwich on white with a cherry coke and it came out to be $18 and change…. Over $20 with tip. The place is very cute and very busy so I had high hopes for a great sandwich. When it came out after a 25 minute wait, I thought it was a joke. It was regular sized sliced bread with a thin layer of chicken salad. The sandwich was 4.5″x4. 5″ – what I’ll make for my kids with store bought bread. Not at all what I was expecting. The guy who ordered after me got a sandwich practically the size of his plate, so I’m thinking I just ordered the wrong thing. I don’t understand how my little sandwich and coke came out to ocer$18 though.
There are no prices displayed anywhere. Clearly they are used to a clientele who’s a few tax brackets above me and don’t care about price. I’m a normal person who does however care, and would like to know what things cost. I’m a foodie, so I’ll gladly pay for good food.. but this sandwich, for the price was just sad.
I packed up half my sandwich – just disappointed and ate it on my way home where I got more to eat feeling regret for having stopped. I’ve been to very expensive sandwhoch shops, all over the country, and was never so let down.
The pickles were really good.

The store has that cozy, country charm, and the smell of breakfast cooking in the morning is honestly the best part. You can tell everything’s made with care. It’s the kind of place that feels like part of the community, not just a store.
Highly recommend stopping in if you’re in the area—you’ll leave with good food, good vibes, and probably a few friendly hellos along the way!
