I really enjoyed the overall vibe, immaculate interiors, friendly service, and live music that adds to the atmosphere. But as a foodie, I felt the food could’ve been better. The presentation doesn’t quite make up for the lack of depth in flavor, just my personal take.
That said their cocktails are excellent and definitely worth trying. Overall, a good experience.
The exterior is very eye-catching especially with all of the decorations and colors the owners put effort into. The interior is just wow, different colors – lots of greens, purple & brown. The seating and tables are very pretty and the lighting is perfect.
I haven’t tried too much food here, but so far I have had the: Buff chow mein, Chatamari Set (Nepalese style folded pizza with spiced meats and vegetables), Kathmandu Ko Faarzi Jhoi Momo Cha (Nepalese style dumplings with flavorful fillings served with special tangy sauce) and Baudha Ko Faarzi Cheu Momo (steamed momo with flavorful juicy buttery fillings served with 2 different sauces). There’s a lot of interesting aromatics in the food and their momo’s are delicious! I can’t eat much spicy foods, so I chose the ones that were mild or not spicy.
The bar menu had an assortment of drinks and cocktails. I’ve tried a few of the cocktails at Faarzi and they are on point.
Overall, a pleasant experience if you’re looking for a different type of cuisine and atmosphere. The staff here are very nice & welcoming. The music is also very relaxing and when you’re here, you forget you’re even in NYC.
We went during the NYC snowstorm and the staff were really friendly and welcoming, clearly putting in a lot of effort even when many other places were closed.
Unfortunately, the “Masu Jindabaad” platter was a big letdown. Although it looks good in the picture attached, the portion size was way too small for a $50 platter and not worth for the price. I would not recommend ordering this platter.
Overall, good place for ambiance and select dishes, but skip the Masu Jindabaad platter.
Sadly, the food did not match the charm of the setting. The flavors were underwhelming, and for the high prices charged, the quality felt disappointing. It left me wishing the dishes carried the same authenticity and warmth as the ambiance.
Overall, the restaurant is a lovely, cozy place that captures the spirit of Nepal in its atmosphere. But if you’re seeking truly satisfying food at a fair price, the experience may fall short.
Service was pretty great. They had live singing performance (particular nights most likely).
The jhol for the momo was so flavorful! It is served cool, so it’d be perfect if the momos were brought in piping hot.
The buff chowmein was really good too (super spicy).
The food is definitely on the super spicier side and pretty salty (kinda common for Nepali food). So let the waiter know if you need adjustments).
The only thing I’d say is that some items on the menu had pricing that was, quite surprisingly, pretty high. With drinks, the bill will easily come out to min $50/pp)
I think presentation of the meals is cool but they can’t lose focus on creating good-tasting, delicious food.
The paani puri definitely needs extra work, please!
Anyways, kudos to the brothers for creating a Nepal outside of Nepal. Glad to have an establishment that we can enjoy and bring our friends and families to.
Huge shoutout to the bartender dai, seriously one of the best I’ve come across. The drinks were not only delicious but had so much personality. You can tell there’s real care and creativity behind every cocktail.
What really stuck with me, though, was how comfortable and at home I felt here. It’s the kind of place you want to come back to not just for the food and drinks, but for the overall experience. Definitely a new favorite.
