Mariposa is a bakery and wine bar right in the village of Oriental. In the morning our bakery offers fresh pastries, bread, coffee and juice. In the afternoons and evenings, we are a wine bar serving a wide selection of wine, beer and beautifully prepared charcuterie boards, and a selection of delicious desserts. After three visits I can tell you this place is legit. We’ve been in for breakfast, bought fresh bread and have done the wine flights. The selection is fantastic, much more varied than one would expect in a small place like Oriental. This is a gem.

The charcuterie boards are delicious and very imaginative with all the different choices. Ours had a carrot humus on ours. The baked goods were moist and flavorful. Our scone was not too sweet. The wine list rotates but lots of decent choices. They have beer as well.

The hours made it very difficult for us to travel out of town to go visit (an hour away) but the baked goods were worth it. One of the few places in eastern NC to get delicious, high quality baked goods/desserts. At a decent price too. We will be back!

I love this new addition to Oriental! Great charcuterie board, great selection of wines and good prices. Very professional staff in black and white, no t shirts….Owner was out and about the whole time. Had the Bananas Foster Cheesecake because when the owner found out that we were celebrating my belated birthday she gave a complimentary dessert…classy! Thank you for a great time with my friend Kay. Will be back….wish you were open more than just Saturday, Sunday and Monday!

Jerry and I have made a visit to Mariposa a treat for each other almost every week. We agree with others that the food is fresh and tasty and there is a wide variety of wine available for our sipping pleasure. My recent choice of Derby Pie for dessert was absolutely yummy.
