I came in here when I was in Nome as an Iditarod volunteer. From the first moment I stepped in there, I loved the atmosphere of the old building and the ‘vibe’ of the place. Everything was so relaxed and welcoming. The service staff was very friendly and service was quick. Food was great too. I was in Nome for six days and I came in here often. It would be a great place to just go in and have a coffee and chat too.

I come for the nachos and leave satisfied, yet wanting to repeat my eating out! This is always what I order and always comes perfect. I like the staff and prices are very reasonable the beef tastes very authentic and not stingy and the cheese is perfect blend of nacho taste. The portion is enough to share .

Polar Cafe may be known to locals. But, as I’m here working construction, none of the guys on my crew knew about it. The real joy of the Pilar Cafe is it’s atmosphere, views of the Sea and it also has a coffee barista inside. I will definitely be going back.

This is about as rural Alaska as you can get. Nothing fancy and gourmet. Just plain old food. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The restaurant is just dull but the food is ok. If you are hungry then you can eat but do not expect anything special.

Lovely cafe with the freshest food and great service! Had a lovely fresh jalepeno burger and endless coffee but the waitress was as nice as apple pie

Not many places to est in Nome, breakfast this is the SPOT. Great food good people working here. Coffee was always full and food was plentiful. Cost is usual to nome prices.
All in all great little breakfast place.

After being in Norton Sound villages for several weeks, Polar Cafe absolutely hit the spot.

This place is just “meh” all around, everything is dirty, windows broken and taped with plexiglass, filthy curtains that hang practically onto the table.
The food is as expected. Nothing fancy just basic breakfast and lunch (omelets are a little pricey compared to other items).
The waitress’ were very friendly but forgetful and the service was just ok.
It’s Nome, definitely seen worse but the fact no one comes back to the table once you have your food is frustrating. No coffee or water refills, etc.
There’s supposedly new owners so hopefully some improvements are made.
