I enjoyed the flavor of the avocado red curry with tofu, which was delicious. The portion was small, even for a lunch serving, and there were only a few pieces of avocado and tofu in it. I left kind of hungry still, even with the addition of spring rolls and Thai Tea. Very nice atmosphere, but the place was almost empty (1 other table seated) at lunch hour on a weekday. This could be because it is on a side road off of Woodruff and people do not know it’s there, or it could be because the food was a little expensive for lunch. I am giving three stars for the lovely environment, but removing two stars for the small portions and perceived price to value ratio. Maybe dinner is more value, but I do not know. If you want a nice quiet lunch in a beautiful environment and just want to avoid the crowds, this is a good place.

Fantastic Thai cuisine. Very large choice of dishes and entrees with great presentation. Also they have spent a considerable amount of money on the atmosphere and interior design. I had great service. Great place to study or have a drink to unwind and relaxing music. Very trendy place, would be great for families or a date. Definitely would recommend to anyone. And the prices are good too. Very clean as well!

NEW OWNER, NEW MENU, RENEWED LOVE FOR THIS RESTAURANT!
So, quick background. I’ve been to Bon Thai more than a couple times over the last 5 years. Under the previous ownership (prior to December 2016), I watched the quality of the food slip, as well as the service. Eventually I simply stopped going because it wasn’t worth the money.
In comes a new owner – Coua, who just reopened about a month ago. After looking at the new menu, and browsing at the new Facebook, I knew I had to give it another try. Thai AND Vietnamese in the same place? Mother may I! First, and most importantly, the food. My wife and I went there and got three selections to split: a pork banh mi (the Porky), combination pho (with beef and pork), and chicken pad thai. Holy. Crap.
– The banh mi was unbelievable and huge, with fresh ingredients and some clear know-how in the kitchen. One of the better banh mi’s I’ve ever had, and that’s really saying something.
– The pho was the real test – it’s really difficult to get right, and did they ever. The pho bowl is massive, and I do mean massive. It also tasted phenomenal – complex and rich broth, perfectly cooked noodles, fresh herbs and lime to add. I’d put this up against any other pho in Greenville.
– Then, there’s the chicken pad thai. Well seasoned, good heat, beautiful presentation. Coua clearly knows Thai food, and it really shines in the pad thai.
The other component to any successful restaurant is the service.
I’ve been to Bon Thai under the new ownership twice, with a different waitress each time. What a 180 from previously. Both servers were well spoken, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. I can’t say enough about the service here.
Are you still reading this? Turn off your computer, put down your phone, and give this place a try. Even if you’ve been here prior to the new ownership, give it another chance. You won’t regret it. Food – 5/5. Service – absolute 5+/5. I’ll probably be back within a week, and it’s not just because I work nearby! I would and do recommend this restaurant to literally anyone looking for delicious Vietnamese and Thai food at a reasonable price.

I visited this restaurant I was super excited to finally find a Thai place close to work and there was a Groupon for it. I arrived and informed the hostess I had purchased a Groupon but did not make a reservation as required by the fine print in the Groupon. She assured me it was fine and sat me at a table. There was no one in the entire restaurant. I sat down and begin looking at the menu. The hostess who sat me then began to tell me I could not order any entrees with seafood or duck. However the Groupon fines print states duck, lobster and scallops as being the only items that are off limits. I made a face because I don’t eat chicken beef or pork, which were the only options she was telling me I could order. The hostess rudely said you can get a refund from Groupon. I so badly wanted to stay because I really wanted Thai but I refuse to spend my money with someone who is rude to me. I asked for a manager in which the hostess snidely remarked she was the owner. So I will never be returning to this restaurant. Don’t waste your time buying the Groupon or visiting the restaurant!

The food at Bon Thai Greenville is delicious. They serve the best Vietnamese and Thai food in Greenville. The banh mi, pho and curry is really fantastic. The desserts are spectacular as well, espically the creme brulee. And the pepper chicken wings are good and spicy.
