Went here for a quick bite. I ordered three baos and added a side of kimchi and egg fried rice.

The baos had good overall flavor and the buns themselves were pillowy, soft, and nicely steamed. That said, the fillings were a bit disappointing. There was not much meat in the baos, and while the flavors were there, the meat itself was dry and slightly chewy.

The kimchi, however, was excellent. It was properly fermented, spicy, tangy, and garlicky with a nice crunch.

The egg fried rice was not good. The peas were discolored and there was an unpleasant acrid taste, as if part of the rice had burned and been mixed back in. It was off putting enough that we did not finish it.

Overall, there are some good ideas here and the kimchi stood out, but the execution was inconsistent. Between the dry meat and the poor fried rice, it is unlikely we will return.

Buffalo chicken egg rolls – not good
Corn dog – not good
Bao buns – not good

Cashier – could not understand cash payment of $52 for a $41.73 bill, had to coach her on how to give me change. My wife said to be sure to mention she was nice, so she doesn’t get in trouble. So I guess kindness is an acceptable substitute for competence.

I regret ordering food here. I still lose sleep over it.

Holy WOW!! If anyone else is a banh mi lover like I am, I definitely recommend Chin Asian Fusion Street Fare’s take on the sandwich, located inside Henry’s Depot in historic downtown Sanford! I went both yesterday and today, and both sandwiches I ordered were fantastic!

I had the steamed pork banh mi and the BBQ pork banh mi (w/ two eggs added). While there are clearly some differences from what I’m used to from a traditional banh mi (the shape and flavor profile of the cucumbers and daikon/carrot, the style of baguette, the type of pate, etc), I can’t deny that they are DELICIOUS!

Edit: went back again and had the k-pop dog, which is a Korean corn dog (I got mine stuffed with half-mozz half-hot dog) with krab salad on top and it was also amazing!!

We ordered the tempura shrimp sushi roll. All the sushi rolls are fried, just fyi as we did not realize until we got it. The sushi was huge and 90% rice. If you are going to make huge rolls at least make the inside proportionate. We basically had rice with a ton of sauce and cream cheese. Could barely taste the meat inside. One piece even had the shrimp tail still on! Why?

The Bao Buns were great! KFC was amazingly however the chicken teriyaki bowel almost made me throw up. The chicken tasted like it came out of a can, there was barley any sauce on it. Hardly any veggies in the bowl it was almost as if the cooks just needed to get rid of the chicken so they packed it in that bowl. I feel like maybe I got a bad batch but I’m afraid to try the bowls again.

What in the world just happened? My taste buds and brain are partying like it’s their birthday.

I forgot to take pictures not expecting to leave a mid review but I am wrong. I promise I’ll be back and will take before pictures but as you can see, my meal didn’t stand a chance.

You need to eat at this place. This will be my new go to so I need this place to succeed and stick around. Brick and mortar, food trucks, multiple locations, anything just stick around!

*** edited and updated…. the very next day we went back. I got pictures this time. Don’t take my word for it, go and experience this tasteful bliss

My husband and I came here for lunch and it did not disappoint! I was so impressed with the presentation and the quality of the food I had to go back for seconds I loved the tofu and the shrimp bao. If you’re ever in the downtown Sanford area come to Henry’s depot and try them out.

I dined at your establishment last week and, while I quite enjoyed both the food and the service, I was deeply unsettled by an incident I overheard during my visit. A manager was openly discussing the termination of a new employee and appeared to be gloating about it. The conversation was unprofessional and unnecessarily harsh, leaving me extremely uncomfortable and unable to finish my meal. Unfortunately, this experience has left a negative impression, and I do not anticipate returning.

I’ve been a Depot customer since they opened. This is the place that took over the bbq joint. Taco was good, but the bao was not as soft as I’ve had and lacked protein at $5.
