So today I was scrolling through Instagram and I saw somebody talk about Donna’s and how they had $10 pasta for happy hour and it starts at 4 PM every day to 6 PM and they also serve happy hour from 10 to I believe midnight — so I thought it was real cool and I had to try them out!
I pulled up to Donna’s in the Capitol Hill area and let me tell you… it did NOT disappoint.
Oh my God — I had the Diablo pasta and the fettuccine pasta, plus I ordered the bread and a Caesar salad. The Diablo pasta was everything I needed it to be. It had the right spice, it was creamy, the sauce was smooth — just balanced and flavorful in every bite. Definitely the star of the table.
The fettuccine had good flavor too. Even though it was more of a butter sauce, I felt like it could’ve been a little more moist, but the taste was still solid. The bread? Baked to perfection — crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside — and they give you a little marinara sauce to dip it in which made it even better.
The only thing I didn’t love was the Caesar salad. The presentation was amazing, but it was heavily saturated with salt. I noticed the wontons had Tajín or something similar on them, and it made the salad very salty. Beautiful dish, just a bit overpowering on seasoning.
I also ordered a drink called “Love Letter” made with tequila, guava, lime, and bergamot — and that drink was DELICIOUS. Super refreshing and well-balanced.
If you’re ever in Capitol Hill and want something cheap, not expensive, with a great vibe — I would definitely go here. Just a heads up: seating is first come, first serve and they fill up quickly. Get there early and enjoy!

The food and the happy hour deal at Donna’s is truly unbeatable. The portions are huge and ten dollars for a pasta is insane in Seattle. I couldn’t even finish one on my own so I got two meals for five dollars technically. I will say this place is a hole in the wall, it’s small with a small upstairs but seating can be difficult to find. In addition it is also a bar so the music can be loud too. Nonetheless it is a vibe with good food, cheap drinks and nice waiters you can’t ask for more but they give you more because it’s also so cheap. This is a new go to and I will be coming back!

Busy and lively all night (surprised for a Sunday) but was able to grab a spot at the bar within minutes of walking in. Larger parties might have a bit of a wait though.
That said, can’t beat the pasta for $10 (diavolo was great!). Also drinks were solid, service was quick. Props to the bartenders for churning things out despite being busy and still crafting some quality cocktails. Will be back for sure!

Finally had the chance to check out Donna’s happy hour on a Thursday evening. Donna’s is a cute little hole-in-the-wall off Olive, known for both their daily happy hour (4-6pm) and late-night $10 pasta dishes. The music was great and it definitely gives speak easy atmosphere. We arrived right at 5pm and the place was already packed. If you can avoid driving I would recommend taking public transportation and walking down to Donna’s. Since it’s first-come, first-served and the space is pretty small, we ended up waiting by the front door with another group ahead of us. They don’t appear to have a wait list (taking phone numbers or names) so stay nearby either outside or the front door. Luckily, two seats opened up at the bar and we grabbed them.
We ordered the cavatelli with pork belly, Caesar salad, mac and cheese balls, two green tea shooters, and their tomato basil gin cocktail – all from the happy hour menu. Portions were surprisingly generous; we even had leftovers. I didn’t love the green tea shooter, but I heard a few people nearby say it was their favorite. The food overall was yummy, but I’d recommend requesting the Caesar dressing on the side – it had a spicy/bitter seasoning that was hard to pinpoint.
For five drinks, one entrée, and two appetizers, our total came out to around $100, which felt like a great deal to me. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area and don’t mind a little wait!

Came on a Sunday afternoon at 4 and got a table but it quickly filled up within 20 minutes. Seat yourself, order food and drinks at the bar. Fed 3 of us for $35 with the happy hour menu and all of the food was really good. Got the Caesar salad with delicious croutons and the tasty Mac and cheese balls. The bolognese and the pasta with the pork belly were really good! The cocktails were also super tasty. Everything is pretty cheap during happy hour and felt well worth it. As soon as we started eating we talked about coming back.

The hubby and I tried Donna’s tonight for their pasta happy hour, and it was delicious! The service was great — our bartender, a fellow Bay Area native, was super sweet and attentive. The portions were generous and the prices unbeatable. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, and a glass of wine for just $45 total!
The bar has a great vibe — low lighting, lots of plants, disco balls, and a killer playlist featuring Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and smooth R&B. Even on a rainy night, the place was full, which says a lot. Bonus points for the fun detail: there’s a projector in the bathroom playing Sex and the City!
Overall, Donna’s gets a 9/10 from me. Great energy, solid food, and a cozy, stylish atmosphere. Definitely coming back!

Donna’s pulls a lively crowd, and walking in during the first happy hour set the tone right away. The place was packed, energy high, and they even had Death Note playing on a projector in the bathroom which gave the spot a quirky charm. Most drinks and all pastas drop to $10 during happy hour, which makes it feel like a solid deal. I ordered the Always Dreaming at the bar, a green apple cocktail that looked great and tasted decent – 7/10. I managed to grab a seat just as my food was ready. The black pepper fettuccine came out al dente, but the sauce fell flat and needed more flavor, closer to a 5/10 for me. Despite that, the overall vibe carried the experience and made the place feel fun. I would come back again, mainly with friends and definitely during happy hour.

Get there by 3:40pm! It fill up in seconds and the place is really small!
Food is great! Everything is a hit. Pasta, drinks, wings, and salad! Gotta go back to try the bread! If you get there after 4 it’s too late do the first happy hour! SO GET THERE EARLY!

I love the Mac and Cheese balls. They are the best in the city and when I need to hit that midwest craving, I go here and the pasta is out of this world. Especially the spicy vodka pasta which is spicy! Thank you.
Please also try everything on their menu as it has probably the best happy hour in the whole city. It is right up there as my favorite post 9 pm bar & restaurant to go to.

Pasta happy hour and the drink menu are two things that make Donna’s a weeknight favorite! It can get BUSY and LOUD so if that’s not your scene come after the pasta happy hour when things calm down a bit. Despite the face paced environment, the seating is intimate and all my dinners here enjoyable.
