Starting with the service, we arrived as a party of five and got seated immediately without a reservation. The waitress was quick with our order, and she even went out of her way to find me tea! She was very present with a warm energy for all her tables. We did not catch her name, but if you see the redhead with long hair and blue eyes, you can tell her she was awesome!
Second, with the food, we were also very impressed with the quality of the flavors and presentation. We got the fish and chips, two dark horse burgers, the seafood chowder and the Mushroom truffle flatbread. We then ended with two deserts, which were a bit small but still delicious. Everyone was full and please by the end of the meal. We would recommend all those options.
For the drinks, the ciders were very fresh and enjoyable.
For the ambiance, the colorful walls and smaller rooms made it very cozy. It looked like eating at a proper European restaurant, if not a European home. They even had a small photography gallery upstairs, promoting local artists. They are a clear, active member in the community and they make you feel welcome right away.
Especially for a restaurant located far away from the main roads, the quality of food and service was excellent.
The service was prompt and polite. They were very busy, but we didn’t have to wait long at all.
There is a small art gallery on the upper floor of the building selling photos and paintings by local artists. All of the works were for sale. It was neat to walk through and look at everything.
Food was phenomenal & everyone around the table loved what they got. I got the fish & chips (subbed chips for asparagus). Came with 2 very large & perfectly crispy pieces of cod. Asparagus, as plain as it is, was amazing & cooked well. Hubby got the dark horse burger – yum! Juicy & amazing. Sweet potato fries are the best I’ve had. Kids enjoyed their hamburger & mac & cheese. Our friends really enjoyed their lamb stew & beet salad.
Overall, such a great place & really dog friendly! Great vibes & love the decor. Service was great. We will most definitely be back when we pass through the area!
