We visited Aangan last Thursday evening, and I’m pleased to say the experience was good enough to bring us back again so soon.

The food quality is excellent. I ordered the Garlic Chilli Chicken with two chapattis, whilst Mrs P had the Chicken Biryani. Both dishes were flavourful and well-prepared – the chicken was tender, and the spicing was spot-on without being overpowering. The portions were generous and represented good value for money.

We accompanied our meal with a pint of Cobra and a glass of Merlot, both served at the right temperature.

The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere strikes a nice balance between relaxed and refined. The restaurant itself is well-presented, and you can tell there’s genuine care taken in both the cooking and the hospitality.

**Practical tip:** Parking directly outside on the main road can be a bit hit and miss due to it being a busy thoroughfare. However, there’s alternative parking available at the Co-op and the train station, both within easy walking distance.

With regards to value, the pricing is reasonable for the quality you receive. The combination of authentic flavours, good service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes Aangan well worth a visit.

We’ll certainly be returning again – which is perhaps the best recommendation I can give.

Paul and the team… double thumbs up! Plus the chef came to check we were happy with the food. Nice touch and excellent customer service.

Amazing food and outstanding service! I’ve tried many restaurants, but this one truly stands out as the best. Every dish is filled with incredible flavour and cooked to perfection. The lamb and chicken were unbelievably tender, juicy, and absolutely delicious. A fantastic dining experience from start to finish — highly recommended!

A True Culinary Gem in Derby County – Highly Recommended!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this exceptional restaurant in Derby County, and I must say – it was an unforgettable experience. The food was absolutely delicious and presented with such care and creativity that it felt more like viewing a piece of art than just a meal.

Every dish that arrived at the table was a masterpiece – beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. It’s clear the chefs here are not just cooking; they’re crafting an experience that delights both the eyes and the taste buds.

From the first bite to the last, I was incredibly impressed by the attention to detail, the balance of flavors, and the sheer passion behind every element on the plate. It’s not just a meal here – it’s a journey through culinary artistry.
This place is a must-visit for food lovers in Derby County. Highly recommended – I’ll definitely be returning!

We had the most amazing Christmas lunch. Arrived & there was a welcome drink, shortly after shown to our table. Pulled our crackers, drinks were ordered, then poppadoms & pickles. The atmosphere was lovely, everyone mixing & someone even had a birthday, which was celebrated with us all singing. The starters arrived, fish, chicken, lamb & veggie. After a short break the mains, which were meze style arrived, wow! The taste of the dishes were second to none, not too spicy. The lamb dish was gorgeous & we don’t normally eat lamb!! There was so much food, but if you wanted more you only had to ask! Finished with Christmas pudding, Nepalese way.
Paul & his team were amazing, attentative & hard working & amazing food. Thank you it was fab doing something different for Christmas Day!

Recently moved to the village and decided to come based on the reviews. A really great restaurant- the service is excellent for starters. The table staff were friendly and attentive for drinks and taking food orders. The chef even stopped by the table to say hi- what a nice touch. We thought the food was simply excellent- the Gorkhali chicken was delicious as was the Lamb Sherpa. We enjoyed everything and will definitely be back and recommending this place.

I stumbled upon this delightful restaurant while driving to Birmingham, taking a detour from the A38 to avoid traffic. It was purely by chance, but I’m so glad I found it! Initially, I decided to try a few takeaways from the establishment, and to my surprise, they were incredibly delicious and packed with authentic flavors that truly stood out. The experience prompted me to book a table for myself and my family a few weeks later, and I can confidently say that the food exceeded our expectations.

During our visit, we sampled a variety of dishes, including a tender lamb dish, a flavorful chicken dish, and a satisfying vegetarian option. Each dish was a testament to the culinary skill of the chefs, who have managed to create a menu that is rich in flavor and showcases the best of Indian cuisine. Every bite was enjoyable, making it a memorable dining experience for all of us.

For those who used to frequently go to an Indian restaurant on the A38 between Derby and Burton (I won’t mention the name), you will definitely want to check out this gem. The same original chefs are working here, delivering the same quality and passion for food that you may remember from years gone by.

Another great thing about this restaurant is its pricing; the meals are very reasonably priced and certainly not overpriced, which adds to the overall positive experience. However, it’s worth noting that if you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, it’s important to inform the staff before placing your order. They are accommodating and will make sure your needs are met.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my meals here and can’t recommend it enough. If you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine that will transport you back to those early dining experiences, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
