I happen to pull this place up on the map. I don’t live in the area. But when I saw it was from 1917 I believe I had to try it. I’m a sucker for good Smokies and smoke kielbasa. I haven’t tried the kielbasa yet, but the Smokies were fantastic. You could tell it was the old world recipe that you can’t find anymore. I used to have a local Pollock butcher who would make Smokey’s out of my venison. That was the vibe. Service the ladies were all sweet. Don’t expect a pretty place. I mean it is a meat facility so it was cool to see the pictures on the wall and the history and such. Price? I thought everything in there was the going price for those sorts of things.

I’ve been coming here for years for smokies which are amazing and both fresh and smoked kielbasa always good but this year the fresh kielbasa had a weird taste . Not sure if you changed the recipe or added a different spice . I also thought the color was different it was more brownish than the usual gray. I will not be buying the fresh any more.

Always got smokies here even when they went up. Everything has gone up. Last 2 bags I got were very dry and nasty. Was only 1 time, but I might try somewhere else next time.

I remember running out after catholic school racing to go here when they were on the corner of Lansing Ave. They would set out samples of smokies and would let me have some. Unfortunately I think I started that because I lived on Lansing and always went there so I knew. Other kids started following me to this wonderful family owed shop. They were so lovely and never complained and just set them out. Once in awhile I would buy one. I’m 47 now and it’s such a lovely memory for me. A highlight after school. I have since moved out the area however my husband works in it. He surprises me often with a few bags of smokies. Oh man still delicious and nothing like them. Only problem is there is never enough sharing them now with my kids. If you know about their smokies than you know. If you don’t than you’re missing out

R&K Sausage catered a meal for our high school marching band before a playoff game and it was fabulous. We had rigatoni with meatballs, salad and garlic bread – all of which rivaled Little Italy! Marty and his team’s attention to detail went above and beyond as well. Highly recommend R&K for your catering needs.
