There aren’t many non-chain restaurants in Legacy Place, but Liberty & Main is one of them. I recently took a visit for a weekday lunch, and the restaurant wasn’t too busy. Despite being billed as a “bistro,” there weren’t many French-influenced dishes on the menu. Instead, it resembled the typical offerings you would find at elevated taverns.
Perhaps I chose the wrong appetizers, but both the shrimp and the chicken liver mousse were just okay. The mousse pâté had a prominent alcoholic aftertaste, likely from wine, and the sweetness was overplayed. Its texture was too light and foam-like, so it almost felt like eating chicken liver mousse-flavored cream. The fried shrimp was slightly better, but it was indistinguishable from typical sweet chili fried shrimp.
For the entrée, I opted for the Irish Chicken Curry, a sweeter and less spicy version of Indian curry bowls. This was my first time trying Irish-style curry, and I found the flavors to be too mundane for my taste.
Service was great, but given their mediocre food, I’m not sure if I would come back. That said, it might be worth a visit if you’re seeking a relaxed, non-chain dining option in the area.
One of our group is fragile with hearing and cognitive issues, so we need a restaurant with a table as far away from normal lunch chaos. It also needs to be near our friend’s assisted living.
It is a change for us because we used we use to rotate dinner parties where we cooked for each other.
We started months ago at Legal Seafood. We appreciated the reasonable lunch prices…full lunch under $20.00. But they never honored our reservation for a quiet table and it was too much chaos.
We have moved to Liberty and Main. We can get a reservation for our chosen quiet table and we are treated like royalty.
It was sad to see that there are not many lunchtime customers. I suspect that they would have more customers if they offered $15.00 lunch menu. We might lunch there more often and not wait for Birthday celebrations.
We really appreciate the service…
It sounds strange, but you have to try the grilled bacon with peanut butter sauce.
The twisted fish tacos (Blackened Cod)were amazing! And, the baked Alaska was a great way to finish off the meal! If you can’t get a table, try the bar where you can still get all the great food with a couple of large screen tv’s to enjoy the nights sports .
Julie & Mike are wonderful hosts making sure everything goes just right. Every restaurant should care about their customers the way this couple does!
I know we’ll be back next week!
We went back the other night to try their new “Summer” Menu and once again we were not disappointed. We started with the beet salad with ricotta, which was delicious, then I had the shaved prime rib sandwich which was great and my wife had the puff pastry chicken pot pie which was delicious!
Atmosphere was great, music track excellent but not too loud, service on point and food phenomenal.
All for $55 per person. New holiday tradition!
