Sal, the owner, sets the tone with his warmth, and Nina behind the bar is an absolute star, endlessly friendly, welcoming, and the kind of hospitality you just don’t find everywhere anymore. The whole team makes you feel like you are walking into a friend’s home.
If I am being fair, the room could use a little more energy at times… but honestly, the quality of the food and the heart of the people more than make up for it. The menu from the chef is spot-on, comforting and elevated at the same time.
A true Upper East Side staple and one I am always happy to return to.
We stumbled upon Come Prima and were completely blown away by the experience. Every dish we tried was a standout. The burrata was impossibly creamy, the mushroom risotto was rich and comforting, and the scaloppine piccata with spinach had just the right amount of heat. We finished with the tartufo dessert, which was the perfect indulgent end to the meal.
A bottle of Vermentino complemented everything beautifully. The service was warm and attentive, and the ambiance felt like a cozy corner of Italy in the heart of NYC.
If we had one small note—it would be that the decor could use a little refresh. But honestly, the food more than makes up for it.
Authentic Italian, full of flavor and heart.
Food is absolutely amazing! So fresh & such clean flavors! The food is on the pricey side but it is definitely worth it, good atmosphere and very nice waiters. I think it’s a hidden gem that much enough people don’t know about!
The thoughtful layout of the tables afforded a private oasis in the bustling space, allowing for intimate conversations at a comfortable speaking volume—a perfect setting for a romantic date.
The service was impeccable; waiters were not just welcoming but incredibly attentive, striking the perfect balance between being available for our every need without being intrusive. The variety in the appetizer bread basket was a precursor to the diversity of flavors we were about to enjoy. When we ordered a salad and pasta to share, the wait staff considerately provided us with individual plates, a small detail that did not go unnoticed.
The generosity of the portions was impressive, leaving me satisfyingly full after just half of the pasta and salad. However, it was the Orecchiette pasta that stole the show—its ear-shaped morsels were bathed in a creamy sauce that hugged every curve, creating a symphony of texture and flavor that exceeded our every expectation.
To finish, the complimentary berry cookie sticks, fresh and infused with a delightful zest, were the perfect sweet note to end on.
My return to Come Prime isn’t a matter of if, but when, as the rest of the menu awaits my eager anticipation.
