Stopped in on the way to the aquarium, not expecting much.. we left thinking the complete opposite!! They were out of brisket and prime rib by early afternoon, which tells me they have to be good.. we tried the sliced pork sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, and pork nachos. I will absolutely be back because if these were what was less popular… I can only imagine how bomb the brisket is!!! The nachos were sooooo good. 10/10.

Upon entering this establishment I was greeted by a nice lady, very friendly and polite. Mr. Warren took my order, a brisket sandwich and a very good lemonade. It was my first time in and I love it. The brisket was very good and juicy! The pickles and onions with bbq made it the perfect sandwich. I must go back to try more. I notice the grade 100 which really made me feel good about the restaurant. I should have gotten a side as well. No complaints. Great brisket

I love this place and would visit every week if I lived closer. Maybe every day haha. The Cressels are amazing people and the food is without a doubt some of the best in the area! They also sell locals goods at their store and I bought some of the the best pepper sauce I’ve ever had there. Very kids friendly and definitely worth a stop on your way in or out of the obx going through Columbia. Be aware they run out of food regularly because they are that good so plan accordingly.

Stick Burnin BBQ is located in the Historic District of Columbia, NC. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places back in 1979. You can still see the pressed-tin ceiling, brick walls, and stained-glass windows. I loved the historic building and was told it was once a grocery store.

Unfortunately, I just wasn’t a fan of the food. The service was friendly. The food wasn’t what I was expecting. I arrived in the early afternoon, planning to get a pulled pork sandwich, but I was told that they were out of most of the menu. I understand that things sell out.

I’m not sure that they have the full menu each day or just smoke the meats a few days a week. I went with the Chicken Que, expecting tender, slow-cooked chicken that would be shredded. I got what appeared to be a grilled boneless cutlet cut into 1-inch chunks, covered in some bbq sauce. Some people might like it, but I could just manage a few bites. I looked for an image of what my sandwich was to look like, but couldn’t find anything like what I was served.

The fries were also disappointing, as I like crisp fries, and these were limp. I didn’t realize when I ordered them that they were fresh-cut fries. Not everywhere is good at making those crispy so I tend to avoid them.

I did enjoy the little cup of coleslaw. I’m usually not a fan of coleslaw, but that was good. I was brought mac n cheese too, and once the stuff on top was removed, that was pretty good too.

I’m glad others like the food, but it wasn’t for me. I should have gone with a burger or pizza. If I return for the history, I’d order something else.

Great BBQ sandwich and fries! We had ours to go and ate outside on the picnic tables on the waterfront by the rest area! Staff was very nice!!! Would highly recommend if you want a local spot on your way to the OBX!

Can’t say enough great things about this place. I was visiting Columbia town for an artist residency and this place was across the Street.
Spacious on the inside and laid out very nicely. Very clean. Staff always greeted me with a friendly Face. Very personable. Food portion was good and price is very fair. They make a lot of things in house From scratch. This place And the people behind it are clearly passionate about BBQ.

If you’re after popular food item like brisket, I recommend you stop by early afternoon because this is the sort of place that makes a fresh batch every day and things like brisket might sell out. They’re pretty responsive to phone calls so you can also call in advance to check on the menu item you’re interested in.

They had a few arcade games in there so if you’re visiting with kids, they have some entertainment for the little ones.

Rated 100 with the health department. Definitely coming back here again If I visit the area in the future.

I was in town today as part of my quest to visit all 100 counties. I decided to stop in for lunch around noon. They were fairly busy but I still got my food within about 20 minutes. I ate in and was advised it would be about 20 minutes.

I took some recommendations and tried the street corn (which wasn’t on the menu and a) along with my chopped pork sandwich. I also tried the lemonade with sangria (not alcoholic) flavoring.

The pork was cooked really well and the bun was decent. It was actually a little difficult to get the sauces because of the cups and the lids for the cups were on a wall that was not easy for the vertically challenged. But the sauces were good. I’d call them mild.

The street corn was essentially a pasta salad that could have used a little bit more flavor but was an intriguing option since they were out of coleslaw. Although there was a tiny amount of sample coleslaw, it seemed, with my meal which was quite delicious.

The lemonade was pretty solid. And the service was very kind. The location is nice and the bathrooms are clean. I would return!

Reasonable price and fairly easy to park and walk to enjoy the shops and waterfront as well. Stop at the visitor’s center first!

2nd time trying their food at a catered event. Their brisket was delicious! The turkey was very good and I really liked their Mac & cheese too.
Stopped for the first time recently to pick up a sandwich to-go for my husband. I had hoped to get bbq chicken, but they didn’t have any. I chose the turkey melt sandwich. My husband said the taste was good, but a bit too much cheese (he’s not a huge fan), and he had to cut off some fat. I will go back and try their other meats. The atmosphere is wonderful, and so was the service.

Our family frequents this small business any time we visit! The owner is extremely personable & makes sure to check in on our experience each time we are there. Food is always good & we love to try the specials offered. Today they went above and beyond! We visited excited to try their pizza on special, they unfortunately had sold out. The owner came and we in conversation mentioned we really looked forward to that pizza. When bringing our food out he surprised us with that pizza!! If stopping by on a Sunday make sure to ask about the amazing pizzas they serve!
