Lobster rolls were fabulous with a variety of options. We also enjoy the lobsterac and cheese – large lobster pieces! My inlaws had the salad they stated the dressing was fabulous. Highly recommend

Came here specifically for lobster rolls and wasn’t disappointed. We ordered the Connecticut & Salad lobster rolls, both with bisque & drinks, plus kids grilled cheese & drink. Ran us right at $75. Felt like the drinks were pricey compared to the rest, it was offset by free refills but honestly food was brought out quick and we ate quick so really only refilled once. Hubby who doesn’t care for seafood enjoyed his lobster roll, I loved mine. Even our 5 yr old dipped his grilled cheese into the bisque and said it was good. Didn’t have to prompt him to finish his meal!

I always wanted to try a lobster roll sandwich, haven’t ever had it up until this point. Decided to randomly give this place a try and I wasn’t disappointed not one bit. Firstly Place and the atmosphere was good in my personal opinion, restaurant was tidy and they even had couple of seats outside to eat with a view. Sandwich and the bisque was great. overall rate the food a solid 8/10

The food was very tasty. The prices, kind of outrageous. The bisque doesn’t come with chunks, chunks are an extra $5. Also the cup and the “bowl” are basically the same size. I understand it’s lobster, but $22 for a lobster roll that comes in a hotdog bun? Practically ate the whole roll in 4 bites.

I just left dining at Mason’s. This was my first time and I had no point of reference, except for the fact that I had been in the mood for lobster since passing through New Orleans a few days prior. I was on a walk through the area with my dog when I passed by. I doubled back and decided to give it a try. The outdoor patio was empty; they had opened an hour prior. When I walked in, there was no one visible inside – employee or guest. I proceeded hesitantly with my dog close at my side. When an employee finally appeared from the back, he was carrying cups (likely finishing opening duties). I smiled and said hello, he quipped back, “Is that a service dog?” To which I replied, “No, but I am planning on eating on the patio, I just needed to come in and order.” He responded briskly telling me to hurry up and come order. I asked for a lobster roll, he clarified that I wanted the classic, and then he replied with the cost. I responded with, “Can I order a drink?” He quickly punched in a fountain drink, and then looked up stressed and said, “There’s my boss,” who entered, and nodded with a smile in my direction. The employee was so tense I felt obliged to justify that I was just ordering and intended to sit outside. That initial service was so poor that when my total came to $30, I regretted my decision to dine there, rather than the burger spot next door. I knew the cost when I walked in, but the service I received was so bad, it overshadowed the taste and experience of the food.

The roll itself was flavorful, served cold (I wasn’t expecting that) on a warm, buttery, tossed bun; I assume that’s common.

There are half a dozen better ways this could have gone: for starters, I would suggest posting a “Service Dogs Only” sign (because I looked first and saw none – I’m a conscientious dog owner. Or perhaps one that says “Dogs allowed on patio only.” Secondly, try greeting your guests before barking at them. Kindness and courteous service goes a long way.

This was the Amelia Island Location

I recently visited Mason Famous Lobster Rolls and tried the Connecticut lobster roll, crab roll, lobster bisque, and coleslaw. Overall, the experience was good, and the seafood flavors were spot on. The Connecticut lobster roll was flavorful with tender lobster meat and a buttery roll, while the crab roll was equally fresh and tasty. The lobster bisque had a rich, creamy texture, with a nice balance of lobster flavor that made it comforting and satisfying. The coleslaw was a nice side, adding a bit of crunch and freshness to the meal. However, I did find the prices to be on the expensive side, especially for the rolls. While the quality was solid, the portion sizes left me feeling like the cost didn’t entirely justify the meal. Additionally, I noticed that there were no vegetarian options on the menu, which might be a drawback for those who are looking for non-seafood choices.
The atmosphere was nice and casual, making it a good spot for a quick seafood bite, but I would recommend it more for seafood lovers who don’t mind paying a bit extra for quality. All in all, it’s a good place to try if you’re craving lobster or crab, but keep the pricing in mind.

I lived in CT for 40 years growing up eating lobster rolls. This place makes a fantastic CT lobster roll nice and buttery. Higher on the price but worth it

We stopped by here on our drive around the island. The lobster rolls were incredible! The workers have a great sense of humor, which was nice too. We sat on the patio outside and watched cars drive by. If you aren’t familiar with lobster rolls, it will seem pricey at $20+ each but it is so worth it! Parking is also tricky as there’s only street parking. As we were leaving some gals said we had to try the Connecticut lobster roll, which we were stuffed so hoping to try that one next time 🙂

Great lobster roll. Super fresh and tasty. The clam chowder was good, but very basic. I would appreciate a bit more clam. Overall great place. Will be back.

We came around 4 pm on a Friday and there was no line. The two workers were very friendly and helpful as it was our first time. We got the Connecticut roll with extra lobster and the classic roll. Both were delicious! Clam chowder was also good. The price is pretty average considering it’s downtown. We loved that the seating is spread out and even if it was fully sat nobody would be sitting RIGHT next to you like a lot of restaurants do. Definitely recommend this place and we will probably start coming here regularly!
