Unfortunately they double booked up with another group so we have to wait 45 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated the night went smooth.
The service was fast and consistent, very friendly and personable. The pizza here is always amazing!!! Crust soft lightly cooked and very flavorful. The sauce is very good hot, hot pizza!!!!! If you want good come here!, just expect a little bit of a wait.
If only they had bigger bathroom.

I haven’t been here in 20 years and it’s as good as I remember! We called a few days ahead to reserve our dough, because they only make a certain number of pizzas a day. You can call at 10 am but they don’t open until 4. You can’t leave a voice mail to order or reserve dough. You have to speak to a person, which is how they like it. There are no computers, everything is done by hand. They serve only fountain soda and pizza. You can BYOB or bring in dessert. Lots of people were doing that. They are a cash only business so go prepared. There is a free parking lot on the corner labeled for Tacconelli’s customers. City parking is always appreciated! You do have to walk about 1/2 a block up to get to the restaurant.
Tacconelli’s is in the middle of a block of row homes. The business sits under the Taconelli’s family home who are 5 generations of bakers! Giovanni Taconelli is so welcoming and friendly. He is a proud one man, one oven shop, it says so on their menu. He makes every single pizza. He also allows you to come into the kitchen to watch him make your pizza in their unique oven. The pizza is super thin and light. Its so light that you can only have two toppings. You also probably eat more slices than usual so plan for that.
We had the margarita pizza. Fresh mozzarella, sauce and basil. There are no prices on the menu but that was $25 a pie. It was so airy and not like any other pizza. The edges are chard to perfection. I loved cheese to sauce ratio and the basil was fresh. I brought some home and just ate a slice cold. It was equally delicious!
All of the employees were very friendly. Our had been there for 18 years! They have a small staff and a family vibe going on which I love seeing as a customer.
Thank you to everyone there for making this such a cool experience.

This one amazing pizza place. Really historical place. Hidden place but must visit. You have to book your dough ahead of time. Once you eat here yiu will forget all pizzas you have had before.

I can’t stop coming back here. This pizza is arguably a top 2 pizza place in Philadelphia and NOT 2! The red sauce is probably the best I’ve ever had, the hot peppers are delicious and the staff makes you feel like you’re at their house for dinner not at a restaurant!

If you like thin crust come here! But I noticed the salt was not there for me. Again subjective. The white pizza is better than the margarita in my opinion since the salt levels were there with the cheese. No complaints but can’t give 5 stars due to price and won’t come back since it’s not really my type of pie to be paying $60 with tips for two pies. Mostly would prefer pizzeria Bedia or Angelo’s grandma pie. But the hospitable customer service is something that comes from the lineage of the Italians and this is something you certainly don’t see a lot today.

I was excited to finally try Taconellis and I still dont understand the hype. I never had a pizza with barely any cheese any sauce and had to search for the sausage. I had better frozen pizza.

Fantastic. We ordered a white pie with spinach and half tomato, and a Margherita pie. The crust was crispy and well done in a good way, the balance of their nice sauce and toppings and cheese was great. I’m not the hugest fan of super well done crust, but this was done right. Service was great. Atmosphere is perfect American pizza parlor. BYOB. Cash only with a $2 fee ATM on site. Would definitely go out of my way to come back.

We had an enjoyable meal! The waiter was very kind. We came here because it’s our friends favorite pizza in the city. The pizza was good, although it’s not my favorite style. We were 4 people and had 3 pies, which was the perfect amount. The pizza is very very thin so it’s not as much as you think. It was on the expensive side for what you get. We got a white pie, a red pie (standard cheese) and a margarita. You have to make a reservation to reserve your dough balls because they only make a limited number per day.

First you have to call in advance and reserve your dough and it’s cash only. You are welcome to bring beer and wine. We ordered 4 pies, one tomato, one white with have tomato topping, a plain regular pie and one regular pie half sausage, half pepperoni. I thought the plain regular pie was best all were great. Can’t wait to go back.
