A lot of history here. Train station coffee house vibe. Convenient if you need to wait for your train and grab a hot drink or bite to eat.

We were looking for a coffee shop on the way to the aquarium. Specifically a roaster who roasts their own beans. This place has roaster in the name so it would be fair to think they roast.

Turns out Latte was just ok. Not great. Just basic. They call themselves a roaster and that is what I was looking for when I went there. I didn’t see the coffee beans roaster set up and the beans weren’t too good.
The coffee tasted as expected for a train station news stand / coffee shop.

Tea comes out piping hot. But, I hear the muffs are delish. Perfectly toasted as I was told.

3 stars because I was disappointed with the latte.

Pro tip. Pull the front door hard. It’s wonky and doesn’t open easily. Seems like it is locked. Everyone was having trouble opening it. We had to help them get in. Was weird.

It was an interesting experience to have coffee and food in a train station.
I ordered hot coffee and egg and cheese sandwich. It was delicious. My husband ordered the western omelet. Service was quick and food was tasty.
If you need a quick meal this would be a great place to visit.

Spacious cafe near the Amtrak station. A convenient spot with a large selection of drinks and small bites. The coffee was good. It’s a nice rest stop and with a good amount of seating.

Cute place, good staff and yummy sandwiches! Very basic place to grab breakfast. We were able to see a train pass by. Went here for my two boys.

This creative depot conversion offers plenty of comfortable outdoor seating to enjoy their delicious, fresh food.

The California omelet was filled with large chunks of tomatoes and avocado that were refreshing to eat. Likewise, the caboose breakfast plate offered delicious corned beef hash that wasn’t over grilled. Both plates came with tasty homefries that were the perfect size and well seasoned.

I drive an hour to visit because I was in the area & heard this was a “must do”. Unfortunately I arrived 20 minutes before they closed so I was a bit rushed but the staff did not make me feel rushed, answered all my questions and made me a nice hot drink and breakfast sandwich. The atmosphere was fun & if it had been warmer I would have loved to sit outside. Cool history you can take in while you wait for your order!

We returned to this wonderful place and chose Al fresco patio dining as before. Tables were scarce, but we were welcomed to share one with a touring family from DC.
Sadly no cold brew today, but the regular brew was fine. We had omelets, sautéed only in butter—no seed oils here, yay!

And, of course, muffins to die for, this time app,3 crumbles.

It’s fun to see the trains come and go, and realize we could just ditch the 90 mile drive and take the train. I mean Main Street is walking distance, and there’s always Uber.

Maybe next time—and there will beca next time.

Wonderful atmosphere. Owner is great and well spoken. Cute cozy location in Mystic at the old train station building converted to a restaurant. Also has an Amtrak kiosk in the location and the train stops here for traveling guests. Highly recommend to all locals and any travelers coming through Mystic. Food and drink will not disappoint. Plus they have latte’s! Full coffee menu. Don’t miss it!

My wife, our three children under three, and I recently visited Mystic Depot Roasters and had an exceptional experience. From the moment we arrived, Kelsey and Ian provided outstanding service, warmly welcoming us and ensuring our young family felt right at home. The breakfast sandwiches were delicious, crafted with fresh ingredients, and the coffee was superb. Despite the high quality, the prices were remarkably affordable, making it a fantastic value. The kid-friendly atmosphere was a highlight—our children were captivated watching trains pass by and birds flit about, adding to the charming ambiance. Kelsey and Ian’s genuine hospitality elevated the experience, making us feel like valued guests. This gem is worth the drive, not just for the excellent food and coffee but for the heartfelt service that makes every visit special. Mystic Depot Roasters deserves 10 stars for creating a welcoming environment where families can create lasting memories. We can’t wait to return!

Great little place to grab a good variety of breakfast items and coffee. It has plenty of outdoor seating and also gives you a good view of the train stop as well. So, if you’re lucky enough, there might be a train or 2 that passes by!
