Urdaneta is a Chef driven regional Spanish tapas restaurant. The casual environment brings back the old world fun of tapas and libations, encompassing what the food is meant to be. In essence, Urdaneta combines big and bold Spanish flavors with a modern interpretation. Our house craft cocktails, Spanish wines and sherries, and Basque sidra play the perfect counterpart, in our vibrant tapas culture. The open kitchen and bar provide a sense of intimate and communal dining, offering every guest a front row seat to the action and heart of what we do. Owned by Basque and Spanish Chef, Javier Canteras, in Portland, Oregon. We currently offer reservations for indoor dining and covered, outdoor patio seating.
Comfortable, chic choice for creative Spanish small plates paired with craft cocktails & wine.

The Vibe: The space is small but incredibly well-organized, hummed with energy without feeling crowded. The service was top-notch—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. They even kicked off our night with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine for a birthday toast.
The Food: Every tapa we ordered was a “wow” moment. The flavors are bold, authentic, and beautifully plated.
• Must-Haves: Don’t even think about leaving without ordering the chocolate cake. It’s rich, decadent, and the perfect finish.
The Verdict: If you want an elevated, foodie-approved experience in PDX, this is it. Just make sure you snag that reservation early!
The food was amazing. After three years living in the U.S., this is honestly the best Spanish food I’ve had here. Everything tasted authentic and really delicious.
Definitely a place I highly recommend!
Nathan’s thoughtful wine pairings complemented each course perfectly, and his storytelling brought an added depth to the dining experience. The combination of exquisite flavors and outstanding hospitality sparked engaging conversation throughout a beautiful and memorable night.
But the service here is literally the best I’ve ever experienced in Portland. Everyone we interacted with was smiling and warm and very helpful. They explained every dish as they set it down, and were knowledgeable of the wine and made suggestions to pair with our dinner.
Bravo Urdaneta, THIS is how you run a restaurant.
I don’t really know what else to say but wow! This place exceeded expectations, but I didn’t really know what to expect.
This cozy, intimate restaurant where the people who work there are proud to be a part of this and really love this restaurant just as much or more than the patrons, and it shows.
The food is exceptional, the staff was knowledgeable but beyond that…
Still reeling about this!
Can’t wait to come back!
