I ordered the Golden Beet Salad, Sourdough Focaccia, Tagliatelle, and Honeynut Squash Cheesecake. They kindly gave me a complimentary serving of the Cremini Carpaccio; I ate the matsutake mushroom tamari, Meyer lemon, and Sicilian olive oil sauce with a spoon, it was so good!

A transcendent experience! We sat at the counter and it was awesome to have the chefs serve us the dish and talk about what goes into it. The food was amazing, especially as vegetarians. We felt like you couldn’t go wrong with any of the dishes on the menu. While the beer is not on tap and the cocktails may not have been served at the ideal temperature, this did not impact our overall experience and definitely an improvement from when we went last. Would recommend this place to anyone!

It was the perfect place to take myself out on a solo date, but I can clearly see that if I were to plan a night out without others here, a reservation is the only way. The food bursts with flavor and no single ingredient hogs the spotlight, so whatever you order, you’ll get a full flavor rollercoaster. The music was so nice and perfect volume. Can’t emphasize enough how amazing the food is and how hospitable the chef, cooks, and servers are—truly exceptional.

Mind-blowing, locally sourced, high-end vegan food, in an intimate setting with staff that is just as excited to talk about the meal as I was. That star is so well deserved. I almost ordered 2 of the sweet potato, it was that good. Book a table if you can!

This was honestly better than I had hoped it would be. They really weren’t trying to make the ingredients into anything other than what they were, which was perfect, fresh and delicious. The staff was top notch and the space was cozy. The food ranged between excellent and jaw dropping. It also qualifies for the highest complement I can give any restaurant. I was plotting my return before I had even left.

Exceptional restaurant, and the best meal eaten during a trip to Philly. The dishes are creative, flavorful, and memorable. Service was excellent. I will insist on coming back here when I’m in town again

Dinner at Pietramala delivered much of what makes this spot such a beloved part of the neighborhood dining landscape. The hospitality was genuinely charming, the team wished me a happy birthday more than once, and it never felt performative, just warmly attentive.
The kitchen shines brightest in its vegetable-forward plates. The focaccia arrived with an almost architectural crumb and a beautifully salted crust. The beet salad was balanced and bright, and the carrots were handled with the kind of confidence that comes from a kitchen that knows exactly how to coax depth from simple ingredients.
The outlier, unfortunately, was the risotto. Presented more as a loose, brothy porridge than a cohesive dish, it lacked the structure and creaminess that make risotto feel indulgent. Given its price point, it was the one element that noticeably disrupted the flow of an otherwise lovely meal.
Still, Pietramala remains a place I’d happily return to, there’s a sincerity to the cooking and service that’s hard to resist. Next time, though, I’ll steer clear of the risotto.

One of the best meals I have had and I have a lot of excellent food. The menu was so tempting I could have had any dish on it pretty much and relished every bite had we not eaten our way through Philly for the past two days. This is the kind of food I like to eat: really good local ingredients, prepared in creative and interesting ways, little unexpected twists and techniques that seem simple but take a certain kind if love and understanding of food to do just so. If I lived in Philadelphia I would be here as often as I go to Spoke Wine Bar at home (Boston). I brought my friend’s daughter who is a voracious meat eater who declared “I’m vegan” after her first bite. No need to label it (unless you are of course vegan or have allergies to dairy or whatever) this is just delicious food that anyone who loves food will appreciate.

Pietramala was absolutely wonderful! It’s such a delicious and quaint spot — perfect for our anniversary dinner. The focaccia, Ras el hanout cauliflower, and polenta-based ice cream are all standouts. It’s beautiful to see a vegan restaurant focus on celebrating plant-based food (as opposed to using imitation meats, etc.). We love that the flavor profiles are genuinely unique and that the food and beverages are locally-sourced. Cozy atmosphere, great service/ethos, and an all-around special experience.

We’re vegetarians and love exploring vegan restaurants. The place is super cute and cozy, and the service was genuinely good.
We ordered the sourdough focaccia (yummy, but very oily), beet salad (really good!), murasaki sweet potato (tasty but very very oily), and the tagliatelle (good, but again quite oily).
At the end with the paw paw pudding — it actually seemed really unique — but after so many oily dishes, we just couldn’t fully enjoy it.
Vegan food is usually lighter and easier on the tummy, so we were hoping for something more balanced.
