The ambience is clean, cozy, and inviting, with good seating capacity for families and groups. The staff were friendly, courteous, and attentive, making the overall service feel warm and welcoming. There was a bit of a delay in food being served, which is understandable as the restaurant is still settling in, but the staff managed it well.
We tried a variety of dishes, and several stood out:
• The Chicken Soup was rich and full of traditional flavor, a great way to start the meal.
• The Butter Chicken was creamy and perfectly spiced, and paired really well with the soft, fluffy naan bread.
• The Appam and Beef Coconut Fry were outstanding — the appam had the perfect texture, and the beef was tender, aromatic, and authentically spiced.
• The Pomfret Pollichathu was average — while the fish was fresh, the masala could have been more pasty, and although it was served in a banana leaf, it wasn’t cooked in it, which slightly affected the overall flavor.
The highlight of our visit was definitely the super posh “Chattichor – Chattiyile Ruchikal”. Served in a hot clay pot, it came with fish, beef, vegetables, pappadam, pickle, omelette, and kondattam — a traditional Kerala-style feast. The flavor was spot on, the portion size was just right, and it truly felt like a home-style delicacy. An absolute must-try.
Earlier they were making biriyani of the basmati rice long rice, but now they have changed to proper small kaima rice and is better now .
We tried lamb roast which was superb and go well with porotta.
To wrap up the meal, we had their salt and sugar mix lemon soda, which was perfectly balanced and refreshing — a great way to finish.
In summary, Salt Mango Tree is a long-awaited and much-needed addition to Swansea, finally bringing authentic Kerala cuisine to the city. With a few refinements and continued consistency, it has all the potential to become a favorite among locals. We’ll definitely be back!
The Indian cuisine here is outstanding. Every dish was full of rich, authentic flavours and perfectly balanced spices. You can really taste the freshness and care that goes into the cooking. The curries were creamy and aromatic, the naan was soft and freshly made, and the rice was light and fragrant. Each bite was delicious and satisfying.
The menu offers a great variety of South and North Indian dishes, so there is something for everyone, whether you enjoy mild flavours or spicy food. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was impressive, showing real attention to detail.
The service was another highlight. The staff were friendly, polite, and very attentive, always making sure we were comfortable and enjoying our meal. They were happy to help with recommendations and made us feel genuinely valued as customers.

I decided to take the family for a spur-of-the-moment dinner, and I’m so glad we did. We literally just drove past and the beautiful outside decor enticed us in—it definitely sets the stage for what’s inside.
The atmosphere was incredibly calming, perfect for a family meal. The staff were very helpful and attentive, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked through the door.
As for the food, it was amazing. Everything was fresh and packed with authentic spice blends. If you visit, I would highly recommend the King Fish Biryani—it was a standout dish and perfectly cooked.
It’s rare to find such high-quality South Indian cuisine on a whim, but Salt Mango Tree delivered. We’ll definitely be back!
