After being encouraged by close friends of mine that are from the UK, I decided to try/review the Old English Tea Shop. I have significant experience reviewing a wide variety of domestic and international food entree’s. With that being said, I have little knowledge of British food. Right out of the gate I was delighted to hear the British accents from the wait staff! Certainly a great first impression! The service was spot on. My waitress answered my questions and guided me on what to order. I wanted to experience real deal UK fare. I ordered the Full English breakfast. It did not disappoint. The beans were amazing! Not being much of a bean guy I can usually take em or leave them. However, these were special! I discovered they are homemade. Not out of a can. The black pudding was fantastic and appealed to my Polish roots eating Kishka. The egg was perfectly done over easy as which can be a challenge at other establishments. I also ordered the Yorkshire tea and I very much enjoyed the flavor and experience. As a coffee connoisseur I had to order an espresso and ordered a second as it was so good! The strawberry scone was another highlight of my experience. I came back for lunch as I just had to try the fish chips. Being from the state of Michigan I know my fish and chips. It did not disappoint. The batter was golden brown and the flavor was absolutely delicious! In addition, I tried the lamb rolls and those were splendid. Gosh, all in all it was a great experience and I highly recommend! I also discovered The Old English Tea Shop will host birthday parties which I think is just the greatest for prompting girls to feel special on their birthday!

I’ve been dying to try Afternoon Tea here since we moved to SA and I finally had the chance when some craft group friends said they would go with me! I love all things British so I had high hopes and it exceeded my expectations. The restaurant is adorable and the attention to detail is lovely. Our table was set just for us and it was so nice. The tea was wonderful and the food was divine. The strawberry scone with clotted cream and jam was a religious experience! The sandwiches might seem simple but they were unexpectedly delicious, especially the Coronation Chicken which I have been curious about for years. The sausage roll was delightful and I was so full I had to take the assorted pastries home to eat later. What a treat! Putting aside how lovely the food is, the staff are just a joy. So friendly, helpful, welcoming and engaging! The owner even let me buy the teapot off our table after I fell in love with it! We couldn’t have had a better experience and I can’t wait to go back!

Loved the atmosphere, excellent service and I enjoyed the tea time with the cucumber sandwich(which was my first time experiencing and was very tasty) pastries and of course tea. Love how everything is decorated keeping up with United Kingdom surroundings and they even have a map where you can pin on the map where you are from. Highly suggest going to experience English “Tea Time”.

I met some friends for lunch today at the Old English Tea Shoppe. 3 out of 4 friends were born in England. One was there most of her life. I followed their lead and 3 of us ordered the fish and chips. The other 2 ordered the bangers and mashed. We did do some slight food swapping. I have to say the fish was perfection. Perfectly fried and moist. Chips were good, too. But the amazing thing was the tarter sauce, generously filled with dill. So good you would want to eat it as a side! I can’t say the mashy peas were anything to brag about. They all loved them, but then I’m not a pea person. I wish I had substituted them with Brussels Sprouts. I tried one and they were also amazing. They had very good iced tea. 2 of our party had the little pots of tea, Earl Gray and 11 Ginger (I think it’s called). They both loved their teas. When we were done, we ordered Bakewell tarts and scones to go, along with clotted cream and jam. When I got home, even though I was still stuffed, I tried the Bakewell tart and OMG. I can’t tell you how delicious it is!!!!! Service was fast and servers were all friendly. Will definitely go again. And, fortunately, it’s only a 10 minute drive for me. I can see why they are rated so highly.

This was my first trip here. For some reason, I thought they were just about tea so now I find out they have all these fabulous meals and then true afternoon tea experience.
This is a must try! I had the butter chicken curry with naan and rice, tea and sticky toffee pudding. It was fabulous. I always crave butter, chicken, curry, and never like anybody’s version of it… Well, now I found a version that is fabulous.
But they have traditional fish and chips. They’re open Wednesday through Sunday 9 AM to three serving breakfast and lunch. I think you have to make a reservation for afternoon tea, but we saw it being served and it looks spectacular with the sandwiches and desserts and tea’s. I will be going back for that soon.
Service was great, and Dr. Kelly stopped by! It’s so nice to see a place dedicated to great food and great service. It does not disappoint..
