Pains me to write this post because I used to love Madeira, they HAD an Australian Wagyu that would literally taste like heaven every bite. But over the last few times I’ve had it, it’s been lacking quality in general, not even mentioning pricing.
Last weekend I ordered their Wagyu ribeye-medium finish and what I got was horrible. Not no steak expert but as a person who cooks steaks often I know how difficult it is to ever mess up Wagyu meat. First of all they gave it to me extra well done when I asked for medium. Called them and they said to take it back so the chef can check the temp, almost insinuating I was lying. Besides the steak being overcooked it literally had no flavor, like AT ALL. Tasted ground beef burgers that were better than that steak. Paid $100 for a steak and a dessert, and I’m not even lying when I say this was the WORST STEAK I’VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. And going back to the point of how easy Wagyu is to cook, it almost makes me believe that their meat isn’t even Wagyu cause how could it be so dry and lacking flavor? Anyways I’ll never be back here again unless they try and right their wrongs.

The only thing stopping me from voting the full 5 stars is that I wish the scallop plate could’ve at least had 5-6 scallops instead of 4, that plate would not be filling had it not been for our octopus appetizer, also for the price I think they could’ve served more. The salmon plate was 10/10 with amazing flavor and was well served. The bread is delicious, atmosphere was relaxing and all staff was attentive, would go back.

Had a wonderful relaxing dinner. Service was great, I didn’t have to look for him or ask for anything. He recommended the Lychee martini and cacao dessert, which were both delicious. The food was great, meat cooked perfectly and brought in a timely manner so your table is never crowded. A dim cozy and quiet venue. Will definitely be returning.

Quite disappointed in the food, we came from mcallen for a nice dinner and not worth the price, the food didn’t have any flavor. Mind you waited over 2 hours for an appetizer and 3 hours for our main course. A wagyu steak w no seasoning, bland, my filet also bland. No sides bc apparently their “chef” got rid of them. Only positive were the drinks. Spent over $400 on an okay meal, very diappointed w service and meal

My wife and I have gone to Madeira many times. It is a once or twice a year type of restaurant for our budget. Typically will save it for a celebration or some type of special occasion like a birthday. It is a little bit pricey, but the quality of the food and the atmosphere is reflected in the price. I have never had a bad or even mediocre meal at this place. Everything they serve from the cocktails, to the appetizers, to the salads, to the entrées, to the desserts is fantastic. You will spend a minimum of $40 a person at this location. But you will enjoy yourself. The atmosphere is very upscale and comfortable. It’s almost like communal dining because you are so close to the other guests and that can be fine or you can make sure they seat you away from that bench row so you’re not too close to other people. There’s also a very nice patio for the rare occasion that there are not mosquitoes or too much wind to sit outside and enjoy. All in all I give this place five stars for atmosphere, food and service. It is definitely the finest restaurant in Brownsville buy a long stretch. People come from all over the valley to eat here.

Went in by myself without a reservation on a Wednesday night and the manager was very nice and accommodating to me, he let me get a table to watch the sunset while Salvador treated me to 5 star service!! I ordered a tamarindo margarita and I told Salvador to surprise me with the second one so he brought me a cucumber margarita and they both were absolutely prefect. Y’all made my evening and have made a return customer out of me, I will be back on my next trip to Brownsville. Beautiful place with a beautiful view on the water!!
Thanks guys!

My wife and I came to celebrate our anniversary. Service was good, food was great. It was not at all busy, but we went at 7pm on a Wednesday. We really enjoyed our meals and appetizers. I think the price is a little on the high end, but a nice play to come every now and then.

The ambiance in this restaurant is ok, kind a dark for my taste. Expensive. Great meals, they offer water, wine, bread and entrees. Ceviche a little salty. If you like to watch the resaca, it’s very close, you can ask to b served outside. Recommend it.

Beautiful place. Great service. Only had the grilled octopus and a glass of wine… they have a decent wine list. Octopus was average to me, but may have just been me. I will be back.

5/9/24: Pictures added, updating my previous review. I went for a birthday dinner, got to sample several appetizers, ordered a steak as my meal, and had an amazing dessert. I must say that this fine dining experience was top-notch, the service makes you feel like royalty. The atmosphere is so relaxing, and calm.
