Today, my husband, our 3-year-old, and I visited this restaurant for the first time because of its high ratings. My husband ordered the Botana Mixta, but the server never asked which size he wanted (there are two options: small or large. We should have confirmed about the size, but since there were only two adults, logically, we didn’t expect to be served the larger size by default. Alas, she served the large size of Botana Mixta.
The bigger issue was with my dish. I ordered the Mojarra (Tilapia) “Nayarit Style.” Based on the menu, I assumed that the listed price included the sauce. The food itself was okay, but when we got the bill, the price of the fish didn’t match the menu. The Mojarra was charged as $29.95. I confirmed the price to her and she explained that my menu was Mojarra Exclusivo. I asked why she ordered me the Exclusivo while I clearly ordered the Nayarit style, she answered “But you ate the langostini”.
Then I mentioned that if my dish was Mojarra Exclusivo, although I didn’t get any octopus in it, I was still wondering about the price difference. She still insisted it was because of the langostini, thus, the price was different. As you can see even the price for the Exclusivo on the menu clearly shows $25.90 ($4 more expensive than what she charged).
It just doesn’t make sense for only two small, overcooked shrimp with sauce on the plate, and especially I never ordered the additional shrimp in the first place cost so much money. We felt like they were charging us more than what stated on the menu.
After some back and forth, she was clearly unhappy about adjusting thr price. She spoke in Spanish with her colleague and she offered $2 back. I pointed that out that the difference was $4, however, she reluctantly only gave me another dollar (so it was $3 instead of $4).
It wasn’t a huge amount of money, but the dishonesty left a really bad taste in our mouth. We won’t be returning ever again because of this experience.
So, folks, be specific with your order, and always double-check your receipt!!!!
we had eaten most of our food before I took these photos hehe
