The reviews are raving about their “buffalo/bison burgers”, so we thought we’d like to check it out since it was gonna be our first time!
It was a snowy morning, around 8:30 am, and that was one of the few restaurants open early in the area.

No one else was there. The parking area was full of snow, but that didn’t faze us! We parked in front of the cafe and looked at the menu, then suddenly these 2 people opened the door and gave us weird looks?
The guy asked “how can I help you?”, and well, we said we wanted to try their buffalo burger.. then the girl said they don’t serve it till lunch. It was okay. Then she said what other things they have,
BUT in an unwelcoming face and voice…
(we were thinking like, “Did we do something wrong?” )

Then we moved to the drive-thru area, struggling coz of the snow, our car was slipping lol
We tried to open our window, it got stuck and my husband and I just laughed at it despite feeling embarrassed already.
The girl went to the window to give our food,
and still looked so unwelcoming and didn’t even say a thing…
And we went on our way confused,
and a morning slightly ruined…

I don’t usually post bad reviews, but I just have to address the unpleasant service that we experienced.
It wasn’t even busy and the day just started..
so why that kind of attitude???
I would understand if it’s a restaurant in the middle of nowhere,
but you are in a touristy area,
plus opening early morning?

Though I believe in always choosing to be kind, coz you never know what people go through,
but in this line of work and business, it’s very much expected for you to treat your customers well.
A good few seconds of smile won’t hurt.
Thank you.

P.S.
The bison sandwich was good though.

Great spot to grab a coffee! We stopped here on our way from Rapid City to the train in Hill City. It’s a cute little stop, and the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming!

Driving north on Highway 385, this establishment is the kind of place you might easily overlook, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of spot. However, on a recent trip towards Rapid City, the sight of a wacky inflatable tube man and the cafe nestled amongst other businesses finally caught my eye. The day was beautiful, and a craving for a mocha struck, prompting me to U-turn and head back. With ample parking and a drive-thru, I approached the window and was greeted by Amanda. I ordered a small mocha and settled onto the sunny patio. Amanda soon brought out my drink and, sensing my openness to a new experience, offered a taste of her buffalo chili. Though not particularly hungry, I accepted, and she returned with a generous cup, complete with toppings and fresh cornbread. Had I not already eaten, I would have happily devoured a full bowl of the delicious chili, especially after noticing buffalo burgers and hot dogs with buffalo chili, as well as Wagyu beef options, on the menu for those less inclined towards bison. We chatted until another customer arrived, and it struck me how rewarding it is to discover these hidden gems, places that truly offer a moment of happiness, much like I found in that small cup of bison chili.

I wish we would have taken pictures! We tried the Saturday special quesadilla, chicken tortilla soup and shared the Buffalo burger and fries. All was cooked up fresh and so good!! The prices were reasonable too. We will be back

This place is the HIDDEN GEM around Hill City for meals. I had an OUTSTANDING breakfast platter and it was great and an exceptional value. The owner is super nice and the outside dining is fun. Local business owner who deserves a chance for you to try her cooking. I will eat here often.

Amazing food that is locally sourced! We had fun playing fetch with the owner’s dog while waiting for our food. 10/10 we will definitely be back!

Delicious food and friendly staff. I had the buffalo brat, it had a firm texture and a very good, meaty flavor.
