We sat down at 5pm on a Saturday. Initial drinks were very slow coming out. Once we struggled through drinks (mostly soda and overpriced mocktails) we ordered some Shareables for the table: bread service x2 & cheese curds x2. The bread service was described i
On the menu as “fresh baked bread”. It literally was like someone opened a bag of Kings Hawaiian dinner rolls, tore them apart, and put them on a wood board and brought them to the table. The cheese curds were your standard, Wisconsin cheese curds.
We struggled trying to obtain drink refills and waited even longer to place our main dinner orders. Eventually the server took our dinner order. About 15 minutes after our orders were given, he came back to the table to tell us that there wasn’t enough tenderloin for those that ordered it. Three people would have to select something different. Our group varied on selections including ribeye, pork chop, burgers, and tenderloin.
After a long time waiting, our food finally started coming out to the table. The process itself was very slow. It took nearly 10 minutes for everyone to get food.
There was no check up from server for a long time after that; he left us on our own.
I ordered a tenderloin prepared medium well. It was severely under cooked and delivered medium rare. I took one bite and couldn’t do any more. I had to wait until everyone else was nearly done eating to have the server even come back. He asked if people needed boxes. At that point it was too late to have it cooked more as everyone else was done eating. I simply told him to take it away and make sure it was removed from our bill.
Others in our group also had undercooked steaks and at least one of the pork chops was undercooked.
We all ordered dessert, but were told that there was only 1 slice of carrot cake available. Another disappointment after not enough of regular menu items.
Dessert also took too long to come out, reaching at least 15 minutes. So long, in fact, that we have a contemplated canceling the desert order and simply asking for the check. When it did come out, the first half of the order came out and people had time to eat their dessert before the second group even arrived at the table.
We eventually got our check. We put everything on one check and it was about $1,000 for 17 people. The gratuity was added automatically and was almost $240. Total time from sit down to check presentation was just over 2 and a half hours.
While the facility seems nice, the slow service, lack of availability of menu items, and poor quality food preparation far outweigh the nice facilities. Extremely unlikely I would ever return, even in a group of 2 or 3. I just don’t trust the place for what you pay for.
The only drawback is the front desk experience, as Anna hasn’t always come across as the most welcoming. That said, the overall service and quality from the rest of the staff more than make up for it.
However, they are unusually concerned about food safety. They only allow you to eat the wagyu burger medium well… they were out of iced tea and over charge for mock-tails.
We were also the only people in the whole place. People probably want their wagyu a little less well-done so go elsewhere to get it. Everything else was great, although I would have preferred more seafood options since I was looking at the river.
If you combine the quality of the chef’s creations, the presentation, and the beautiful setting, this place is truly a great value.
