Los Sombreros Taqueria is a hidden gem in Des Plaines! I’ve been coming for 10+ years, and the food is always fresh, flavorful, and comforting. The gyro tacos are unbeatable, my spouse loves the chicken and shrimp, and the chicken torta is incredible. Friendly staff, clean space, free chips and salsa, hot sauce that’s actually spicy, the whole menu is halal so no cross contamination, and great prices. This place deserves all the love! It is a lot better than the other one in Lombard.

Looking in you wouldn’t expect much from this Lil joint. I was pleasantly surprised with the flavors of the food though! The Chile relleno tacos were amazing and each bite put a smile onto my face. The lengua was also great, not too wet or dry and not greasy. I left full and happy!!!

This place was amazing. Will be coming back here. Great value and great food. Amazing server and super nice owner. Clean and fresh food. They also gave us free gum!! We tried to pay but he just said it’s on us. Thumbs on from me.

I ordered 5 Tacos, 3 were steak and 2 were chile rellenos. I also ordered a ceviche tostada but was charged and served a shrimp tostada. The taco steaks oddly tasted slightly like liver and my chile relleno tacos was a quarter of a chile relleno. Not even a full one. I am so disappointed. Worst part was the food wasn’t even amazing. It was mediocre like reheated leftovers that were unsalted and unwanted. The customer service was great. Way to expensive for a meal that will disappoint.

Discovered Los Sombreros Taqueria a couple weeks ago. I ordered the birria quesa taco plate and I enjoyed it so much I went back today. The tacos were just as good as they were my first visit. I’m happy to have found my new favorite place for birria and will be returning in the future. (1st photo dine in, 2nd take out)

The tortas were amazing! I had the steak and my friend had the barbacoa! These tortas were literally the size of my head and so good. We work close by and will be back for more!
