Super helpful and friendly staff (shout out to our excellent server Charlie, and his manager).
There is something for everyone and price range is good.
I had a delicious pomegranate mocktail. These and some of the cocktails were unique to the brand and really unusual.
We couldn’t fault the food, it was hot and incredibly tasty. We had a variety of sides, two types of ribs and pulled pork rolls. Ended up very full and taking a doggy bag home!
Definitely recommend.
The atmosphere and décor has a proper American BBQ vibe that makes the place feel warm, lively and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable, whether you’re popping in for a quick bite or settling in for a proper meal.
A huge shout out has to go to Dermot, the Irsh manager. He’s an absolute quality guy who clearly cares about the place he manages and what the company is building. You can see the passion for good food, good service and good times in the way the place is run. That attitude flows right through the team.
The chefs are putting in serious hours behind the scenes, and it shows. The meat is consistently incredible cooked to perfection, full of flavour, and exactly what you hope for when you walk into a proper BBQ style place.
One thing that really stands out is the team. It’s great to see a mix of staff of all ages working together, and they all seem to genuinely enjoy being there. There’s a real sense of support between them, which adds to the whole experience as a customer.
If you’re in Cardiff and looking for somewhere with great food, a brilliant atmosphere and a team that genuinely cares, this place is well worth a visit. Independent businesses like this deserve to thrive.
From the moment we walked in, the service was excellent. Our server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu, making the entire dining experience incredibly smooth and enjoyable. It truly felt like they went the extra mile.
The food itself was the star of the show. Everything was incredibly tasty, showcasing perfectly smoked meats and rich, flavourful sauces. Every bite confirmed why proper slow-cooked BBQ is so satisfying. The quality of the ingredients and the care put into the preparation were obvious.
I had a great meal and the service was equally impressive. I will definitely be recommending Spitfire BBQ to all my friends and family. It’s a definite five-star experience that I can’t wait to repeat.

Was very quiet on arrival with about 4 members of staff congregating at the door. Told them we had a reservation and all looked very confused but quickly seated us
Our server arrived, explained the menu, drinks etc. We ordered drinks and then put our food order in. Food arrived relatively quickly but there were only 3 other tables of people
We ordered 2 pit meals: 1x Pork belly burnt ends, brisket burnt ends, garlic sausage, dirty fries and slaw and 1x pork belly burnt ends, brisket burnt ends, brisket slice, tater tots, pit beans and some corn ribs to share
share
Sides:
Dirty fries were tasty and piled high with toppings and the slaw was tasty and cut through the sweetness and fattiness of the meat
Tater tots were delicious, crispy and well seasoned and the pit beans were rich and really tasty
Corn ribs were meh…very underwhelming. Really tough and dry and not particularly pleasant
Meats:
Garlic sausage was tasty. The seasoning wasn’t overpowering and it has a really good snap to it that you’d expect from a smoked sausage
Pork belly burnt ends were a bit fatty and the apricot glaze was super sweet and overpowering.
Brisket burnt ends were also overly sweet, a little tough in places and the bbq sauce, as it cooled, made the outer edges of the burnt ends extremely chewy…and not in a good way
The brisket slice was delicious. Melt in your mouth and full of flavour…because it wasn’t smothered in anything sickly, just dry rub
rub
Overall, the food was decent but a tad dry where it had clearly been left under a heat lamp for a while. I feel like it would be much nicer if they didn’t cover the majority of the smoked meats in sweet sauces and let the flavour of the meat shine through. I also feel that serving the food on a plate rather than a silver tray would be better too. The tray kept swinging around when you tried to cut your food and was just not a great dining experience
The service was a bit lackluster unfortunately. The 2 young girls serving us (one was called Skye) spent a lot of time talking to each other and giggling and the host at the front of the restaurant was stood, for the most part, playing on his phone. Kinda ruined the atmosphere to be honest and it felt like most other restaurants rather than an American smokehouse
They also automatically add a 12% service charge onto your bill and don’t actually tell you which is exceptionally cheeky…especially when the service wasn’t good enough to warrant any amount of tip
Will try it again as want to give the St Louis Rib a go and hopefully it’ll be better next time
The food was absolutely amazing – full of flavour and generous portions – and the service was brilliant, really friendly and attentive without being over the top.
Prices were very sensible for the quality and amount of food you get, which made it even better for a family occasion.
Great atmosphere too, relaxed and welcoming.
Only a tiny thing to mention: on the website it says Cardiff England – easy fix, but worth correcting as we’re proudly in Wales!
We’ll definitely be back.
The staff were lovely and the drinks were great too.
We did have a long wait for food, and I did need to chase somebody down for the bill which took a good while. However, the Cardiff restaurant is new so you can understand the staff finding their feet.
Cornbread would be a good addition to the menu!
I see a lot of comments about the service but I thought the service was phenomenal compared to many restaurants here. I’m from America and having good service is a huge part of our dinning experience and this really felt really attentive. Everyone came to check up on us if everything was good or if we needed anything else. It was really nice.
The food was lovely! I’ve had BBQ back at home many times and it was really nice and it definitely satisfied my cravings for american food. The only thing it was missing was bread! I wish there was white bread that we could order on the side because that is typically how you have it. It was nice and chill and we enjoyed everything. We got the pit and we got 2 slices of brisket, 1 sausage, and 150g of burnt ends pork belly. We also got dirty fries and two cokes it was perfect for two of us!I went with my partner yesterday, and we honestly had a nice time.
