Xi’an Famous Foods 西安名吃 | Tangram Flushing

Social Profile:

Xi’an Famous Foods began as a 200 square foot basement stall in the Golden Shopping Mall in Flushing, N.Y. The original location, established in late 2005, was the first restaurant to bring the little-known cuisine of Xi’an to the United States. Since then, it’s become a beloved local fast-casual chain, with locations spread across New York City, as well as locations in Boston, Philadelphia, Virginia, etc. As a family-owned business, Xi’an Famous Foods looks to reintroduce the world to the unique western Chinese cuisine of the founder’s hometown through some classic dishes: liang pi “cold-skin noodles stewed pork burgers, wide hand-pulled “biang biang” noodles, and more, all in their most authentic forms based on family recipes.

Local counter-serve chain offering Xi’an-style Chinese fare, including noodles, soups & sandwiches.

Love this place. I’ve been coming here for months. Recommend this food!
Love my Spicy Cumin lamb Hand ripped noodles

If you can’t tolerate the spiciness get it mild.

The noodle is perfect chewy texture. I do prefer without soup. The soup bowl makes the noodle more soft. The downfall was the dumplings and pork burger…the skin for dumplings is actually good but the meat inside is very bland. The burger is the biggest problem…I cant even take a bite of the bread because it is so dry and like uncooked? So I had to just eat the meat inside..which was a bit salty. Just get their noodle.

I will be honest, so I got the pork belly noodle soup with regular spice and while I did enjoy the meal, I feel like there could have been more meat. Just personal preference. Aside from that the service was quick. I usually ask my self if I would come back and I think I would to try another meal and then I can give a better review. I’d say give it a shot and try it out.

Every bite of this Chinese burger is a delight: the outer layer of bread is shatteringly crisp, while the lamb inside is incredibly tender and full of flavor. It’s the Chinese version of a hamburger, and honestly, it’s just unbeatable.

Xi’an Famous Foods is a popular chain of Chinese quick service food, serving up hand pulled noodles and a variety of spicy dishes.

The service was efficient and fast, with multiple self ordering kiosks available. There was many customizations available for the meals, as you are able to customize the spice level and any additional toppings.

We got a variety of dishes, but tried the pork hand pulled noodles and the lamb hand pulled noodles. Compared to other locations, this one sort of fell flat, but that could be because we lowered the spice level and had less oil. The noodles were nice and bouncy, with the chewy texture, but did feel a bit dry. There wasn’t much flavor beyond the spice, and the pork was also a bit dry as well. The portion and price were good, however we’d have to try other things on the menu to see how the flavor is.

We ordered the A1 and N1 to share. While the flavor was good and refreshing, I’ve had better Liang pi at other restaurants so I wouldn’t say it’s the best. If you’re craving cold noodles and want a restaurant with seating and air conditioning, I would recommend considering this restaurant. They have refreshing drinks such as Hibiscus, Chrysanthemum, and Jasmine tea for 2.95 plus tax also. The location is inside the Tangram mall, so you have many food, drink, and dessert options!
