We stopped by Abu Zayn for lunch and it was SO good. We started with Falafel and they were absolutely delicious – moist and crunchy and hot! Perfect on a cold rainy day. We also got the Chicken Shawarma (top in the photo) an Chicken Kofta (bottom in the photo) with cucumber salad. Both were absolutely delicious! The service was great – friendly, helpful, and prompt. The decor inside was beautiful- the mural is superb!
We’ll definitely be back.

Absolutely loved this place! I ordered the beef shawarma bowl, and it has some rich, authentic Egyptian flavors. The beef was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, really well with the rice and fresh toppings. The sauces were creamy and flavorful specially there homemade hummus love it!. Portions were generous and definitely worth the price.
If you’re a shawarma lover, this spot is a must-try.!

New Egyptian spot in Long Island. Small location with limited seating, about 5 to 6 tables, so it definitely gets packed (which means food is good) Place got a nice vibe, good decor and EXCELLENT customer service. I had the chicken shawarma which was packed with meat and flavorful. I also got the mixed kebab platter to go, shared it with my friends. They all loved it. The chicken& beef kofta were my favorite. Looking forward to going back and trying more items on their menu.

An amazing spot filled with flavor from all the appetizers to the platters and dessert. The sauces on the shish tawook platter added the flavor that I’ve yet to find anywhere else. Highly recommend you give this restaurant a try and you won’t be disappointed.

Abu Zayn is hands down one of the BEST local dining experiences I’ve ever had! We went for lunch, and from the moment our group walked in, the owner, Omar, welcomed us like family. His warmth, respect, and enthusiasm turned the meal into something truly special. Instead of us stressing over the menu, Omar asked what flavors we liked and then curated the perfect spread—dish after dish kept arriving, and every single one was outstanding.
This was authentic Egyptian cuisine at its finest—no passport needed! The appetizers were incredible: silky hummus, crispy falafel, smoky baba ghanoush. And the main event? The kabobs and lamb chops—juicy, tender, seasoned to perfection. You could taste the tradition and love in every bite.
Abu Zayn isn’t your typical restaurant—it’s a local hidden treasure. What makes it even more special is that Omar doesn’t just serve food, he shares an experience. We felt like we sampled half the menu, and there wasn’t a single thing we didn’t love.
If you want authentic, unforgettable Egyptian flavors in the most welcoming setting, Abu Zayn is the place. A true gem of a lunch spot—you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning your return!

I went to Abu Zayn craving some Egyptian flavors, in particular kefta, it did not disappoint! I had a kefta sandwich with their Abu Zayn sauce which paired well with the meat and some fresh veggies in the sandwich. The bread was super soft! Also the baba ganoush was made in-house and had a bright citrusy twist making it a cut above the standard canned fare that other places use. I inhaled it before even realizing I should take a pictures. At the end I had a dessert, Om Ali, which I had for the first time. It can be described best as somewhere between a croissant and cinnamon bun and tres leche. It was a great way to top off the night. I highly recommend this to anyone in the area who has a craving for great Egyptian food!

Abu Zayn has quickly become one of our favorite spots on Long Island. This was our third visit since it opened, and every time the food and experience get even better. It’s such a treat to finally have authentic halal Egyptian food nearby without having to go all the way to Astoria and deal with traffic and parking.
The restaurant itself is beautifully designed—elegant, welcoming, and thoughtfully tied into the Egyptian theme, which makes the whole dining experience feel complete.
Every visit we start with their appetizer platter, which includes hummus, baba ghanoush, and moussaka. My kids usually skip hummus elsewhere, but they absolutely love the one at Abu Zayn’s—it’s that good. The half chicken is a standout, with perfectly charcoal cooked meat topped with caramelized onions and tomatoes for extra flavor. We’ve also tried the mixed grill, the chicken shawarma in a pita, and the beef shawarma (Very unique) —all of which were fresh, flavorful, and truly delicious. The truffle fries are a must for the kids.
Beyond the food, what makes Abu Zayn special is the owner himself. He is warm, welcoming, and takes the time to chat with customers at each table. He’s genuinely open to hearing feedback and makes everyone feel at home.
This place has become a go-to for us, and we’ll absolutely be returning again and again. Abu Zayn is a gem on Long Island, and we’re so glad it’s here! Definitely give them a try.

The best Egyptian food on Long Island. ❤️ The marinated Shawarma meats on hanging skewer were so flavorful. We tried the chicken and beef Shawarma platter, eggplant side, Egyptian salad, and fries. All the flavors blended so nicely. The crispy fries had just the right hint of truffle, without overpowering the fries. The two types of rice are delicious. We also tried the all sauce sides for bread and meat, which were so tasty! The casual dinning vibe was very neat with a beautiful wall mural. We will definitely be back and are really excited that this new restaurant opened in Rockville Center
