There was only one car in the parking lot when we arrived. One couple was in the restaurant. Interior was dirty with food crumbs on the table and floor. The paper menus were nice. The prices were a little high. The one girl working there was kind and friendly, but it took a long time to be served, and a long time for her to check back with us. Our drinks were only refilled once.
I’d love to try this place again, but I’m worried it will burn my mouth with the spicy level. I’ll try again in a few months! The logo is beautiful, and name is clever.
What’s interesting but completely accurate and legitimate is if you go down to Mexico and order chips and salsa they are an additional cost and it is literally tortillas cut and fried. When you get them here they are legit and they will be extremely hot straight out of the fryer and they are good but they are not the Americanized version of tortilla chips. This should be better communicated both by the waiter or waitress and on the menu.
The temperature of the food needs to be even, consistent, and correct. The cheese enchiladas were warm on the outside cold on the inside, the tacos are difficult to eat, although the presentation looks nice but this should have been improved by now. It would be easier to eat and the quantity of meat is all over the place per taco. The ingredients aren’t getting measured as displayed in the pictures of my tacos so measurements appear to be eyeballed. The presentation is absolutely stellar as every plate is beautiful but the delivery and the consistency of the food needs a huge improvement. The chile relleno was spot on one time and then missed the mark the second time. That’s the first and only time a dish actually was spot on here.
I hate to say it but to sum it up if Gordon Ramsay came here he’d say it’s gorgeous and he would take several bites and start yelling at the chef in the back about temperature and time and proper cooking technique.
The flavors are good to great but the kitchen needs to get their act together because they’re literally playing with food safety.
The refried beans are very unique and I do like them but if I were vegetarian that would be an issue because it contains chorizo. This was never communicated on any of my visits without me asking about it. The rice is fine but I’ve also had times where I get crunchy rice here and have to ask for something fresh.
I do love and support local businesses but the portrayal of the product needs to match the end result as close as possible. The product definitely has a premium look and you’re so close to being acceptable to great. We will be back and give you a few more months to improve, but you seriously need to have some processes in place to be more accurate with your cooking temperatures. I cannot order anything containing chicken here until you fix this.
The staff here seems to be all over the place. I’ve had people who were extremely helpful and very friendly and others that might just be having a bad day. Sometimes the service is absolutely stellar and other times you’re looking around for people and nobody’s around. I’m hoping that somebody from management will see this and take some action steps and I will pop back in even before ordering again if somebody responds.
Place looked clean, and the service was great also. Our waitress was very accommodating & friendly! Food was served fairly quickly!
The enchiladas (a tiny bit spicy for my liking, but delicious!) and tostada mixta had great flavor.
Will visit again with kiddos for breakfast!
