Service here was great. We had ask for an item off the menu, but the auntie was so nice and made it for us! She was super accomadating and nice! It tasted just as fantastic as it looks. Fragrant, cold and just a perfect texture!

The curry chicken was good. The wings and fries has unique taste in positive way. It took a while to serve because it was freshly cooked.

Eggette was just not to my taste, the batter had an artificial flavor and and it wasn’t crispy. Almond soup was better, I enjoyed eating this! A young lively crowd on a Friday night.

May be a nice place to grab an easy seat with friends.

I have been going here for the last six years and it never ceases to disappoint. With crepes, traditional Chinese desserts, and food shaped like other food (they have a dish of “sashimi” made from fruit and tiramisu that looks like a potted plant), it is an amazing place to go. The servers there are all very friendly and will also help explain anything on the menu and all the ingredients.

Besides the ceiling painted to resemble the sky and the decor of feeling like you are in China, each table has a placard with buttons that make it very easy to receive service. Not to mention, the food always arrives quickly.

My favorite dish there is the Green Wonder, but they also have fantastic garlic noodles, and be sure to try their Tofu with Black Sesame or Tofu with Red Bean!

EDIT: Went here recently and prices have become quite expensive. The staff are still extremely friendly and the quality of desserts is good. I understand why they need to raise prices to compete with other businesses, but it’s a little sad to see how a 7.29 crepe now costs 12+ dollars.

Dessert Republic is a typical hong kong style cafe located right next to the public parking garage.

They are a small cafe/restaurant that has a friendly waiter who was hustling to serve everyone as best as he could by himself.

He recommended the black sesame paste and sesame balls (tang yuan).

We thoroughly enjoyed all of it!

You can also order to go if you dont wanna sit down and eat.

Would definitely recommend if you want some thing more hong kong style from downtown san mateo!

Pretty solid HK style dessert spot! Has all-the-fruit types of desserts and the more traditional not-too-sweet variety too. The decor inside is pretty cool – it feels like you’re sitting outside the shops of Hong Kong. Would come again to try something new! They also serve eggettes / egg waffles and savory snacks.

This place has been in San Mateo for a long term and serves up the same great variety of entrees, snacks and desserts as ever. The quality of food is generally fine but it’s the extensive menu that stands out. Good place to go for HK dessert. Hidden in an alley next to the garage so have to keep a lookout.

This place totally transported us to HK with the decor and the authentic food. The iced red bean float was bombdiggity, especially great with the black pepper pork chop dish. The egg waffles were decent and the sesame balls in sesame paste was tasty taste. Heard there was double milk here too so definitely coming back to try that.

Huge menu of desserts and savory items. Have only tried the desserts but they are very good. Price point may be higher than some of their competitors, but the service is great, and they stay open later than most dessert places these days. Last but critical change to note: they finally take credit cards.
