Ogawa in Miami is one of the few places in the city that truly feels authentically Japanese, not just in ingredients and technique, but in the discipline behind the pacing, the restraint in seasoning, and the respect for balance.

As someone who’s married into Japanese culture (and is honestly very picky about Japanese food), I pay attention to the details: rice temperature and texture, knife work, the way each bite finishes, and whether the flavors stay clean instead of relying on heavy sauces. Ogawa gets it right. Everything feels intentional, elegant, precise, and quietly luxurious.

The experience is polished without feeling stiff: thoughtful service, a calm, refined atmosphere, and food that speaks for itself. If you’re looking for a Japanese restaurant in Miami that’s genuinely high level and not “Japanese-inspired,” Ogawa is an easy recommendation.

The vibe and atmosphere here are perfect; it’s a really nice space and a very polished experience, and at the same time warm and welcoming rather than overly stiff or formal. The train rumbling by every so often honestly adds to the experience, reminding you that you’re in this really nice sushi escape in the broader city.

The omakase course isn’t exclusively sushi—there are some cooked pieces as well, including (at least during this service) an excellent piece of wagyu beef. Certainly all very good, and I’d describe the fish selection as perhaps leaning on the safe and accessible side, nothing too wild or crazy with taste or texture, though that may also be a function of seasonality.

The price point is appreciably higher than the owner’s sister restaurant, but if it’s within your budget it’s a very well executed experience.

Where do I even begin? From the moment I walked in, I felt transported back to Japan. This is, without question, the finest omakase experience in Miami. Alvaro and Masayuki have created something truly special every course was executed with exceptional precision and showcased the highest quality ingredients.
The service was impeccable. Extremely attentive, thoughtful, and perfectly paced — elevating the entire experience even further. Every detail, from presentation to flavor, reflected a deep respect for authentic Japanese cuisine. It was an unforgettable dining experience and one I will be thinking about for a long time. I recommend this to anyone who appreciates truly exceptional Japanese cuisine. This is, without a doubt, one of my new favorite restaurant. Thank you Ogawa team!

The experience at Ogawa was truly magical.
The atmosphere is vibrant and refined, and the décor effortlessly transports you to Japan from the moment you arrive.

Álvaro, the owner, welcomed us with genuine warmth and shared the story and philosophy behind the restaurant, as well as the exceptional quality of the fish, carefully selected and flown daily from Japan.

Ogawa offers far more than outstanding cuisine: it delivers a rare, elevated culinary experience.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking something truly special.

We had a truly extraordinary experience at Ogawa Miami. Every dish felt intentional and elevated—flavors that nourish the body and bring a sense of calm and balance. Sushi, tea, and miso were presented not just as food, but as thoughtful rituals. The sensory connection was remarkable: textures, aromas, and flavors that awakened emotion and presence. Ogawa maintains a beautiful intimacy with tradition, making the meal feel both refined and deeply meaningful. A unique and unforgettable dining experience.

MUST TRY, Absolutely mind-blowing experience. From the moment you walk through the door to the last bite, everything is executed with an incredible level of quality and attention to detail. I took the time to notice even the smallest things to understand what makes this place Michelin-star worthy and it’s more than deserved.

Everything was perfect even down to the air temperature . The hospitality from the entire team, the way each dish is explained, and the overall flow of the experience were all 10/10. Truly the best culinary experience I’ve had in my life

Ogawa is hands down the best omakase experience in Miami. The chef’s presentation is not only stunning, but also incredibly educational. Every bite is thoughtfully prepared, timed and beautifully plated. Their sake selection is one of the best in the city. If you love omakase, this is a spot you absolutely need to experience.

As a true foodie, I’ve tried nearly every omakase experience in Miami within the past 4 years, and Ogawa truly stands out as the best. It is my second visit already. It’s rare to find a place that combines such ambiance, artistry, and exceptional food. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere and thoughtfully placed interior deco which the owner probably collected by himself through many times visits in Japan, create a sophisticated, elegant setting that feels immersive and intimate. Chef Masa-san’s creativity, precision, and passion are reflected in every course—the quality of the fish and ingredients is impeccable, and the execution is an art by itself to watch and observe. Last but not least, Don’t forget to check their Zen garden.

I recently traveled to Japan, and my experience at Ogawa felt very close to that level of care and quality.
The service was excellent, but the highlight was Chef Masayuki and his beautiful energy. The omakase was thoughtful, balanced, and executed with great precision. You can feel the respect for the ingredients in every bite.
The pairing was incredible and brought everything together in a way that truly stayed with me. This was such a special experience and one I won’t forget.
Thank you so much, Alvaro, Masayuki and Ogawa team for making this a dream. I can’t wait to go back.

Ogawa in Miami completely redefines what an omakase experience should be. From the first bite to the last, every dish showcased the freshest sushi I’ve ever tasted, each piece crafted with precision and respect for the ingredients. What makes Ogawa stand out is the seamless blend of steamed, cooked, and raw creations. Every course a surprise, every flavor perfectly balanced.

The tamago was a revelation. It was light, delicate, and layered with subtle sweetness. It was, without question, the best I’ve ever had. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, anticipating needs before I even realized them. Every detail, from plating to pacing, felt intentional and above and beyond.

Special recognition goes to Royce, our sushi chef for the evening. His skill, warmth, and artistry elevated the meal into a true culinary performance. Ogawa isn’t just a dinner, it’s a masterclass in Japanese cuisine.
