I really wanted to enjoy my visit to HoneyBaked Ham in Athens, GA, and the counter staff actually made a great first impression — they were polite, quick, and attentive. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience didn’t match their effort.
Once we started eating, we found pieces of cheese paper still stuck between the slices of cheese in our sandwiches. When I brought this up to the manager, his response was a casual, “Yeah, those shouldn’t be in there,” as if it wasn’t a big deal. There was no apology, no concern, and no attempt to make the situation right.
What made it even more frustrating was having to stand at the counter for around 10 minutes waiting for him to come speak with me after the staff told him – twice – that a customer needed him. His lack of urgency or care really said it all.
The two stars are completely for the front staff, because they were great. Management, however, was disappointing and needs serious improvement.

I had such a smooth experience at Honey Baked Ham! Everything was incredibly organized, and my ham order was ready right at the exact time it was supposed to be. The staff was friendly, helpful, and kept the whole process running effortlessly. Definitely appreciate the great service — I’ll be back!

We walked in to establishment and stood at the front counter waiting to order for almost 5 minutes before anyone even walked out to take our order. There were no prices at all on the menu, and when we asked for the prices the young lady at the cash register didn’t know.

Wow, wow. We can’t wait to go back here. I picked up lunch for my husband and I. We ordered sandwiches, two of them. It cost me $17.00. They came with complimentary chips. I took them home for us, and they were very good.
The service was incredible. The general manager Brandie helped me. She took it a step further and told me all about their catering services while I was there. Their catering options are wonderful! She brought out their catering manager, I was able to meet her and take her card with me. I’ll definitely be using them for some events we have. Also met the local owner Matt. Yes, the local owner was on-site working. Yes, yes, yes!!

Honey Baked Ham is not only a great place to eat, but also the best catering in town. We ordered over 200 boxed lunches for an event at work, and they were so helpful throughout the whole process. This is our second year with them as our caterer for volunteer and presenter lunches. The customer service is exceptional, they have excellent communication, and the lunches are just delicious. Many of our volunteers praised the lunch options.
Working with Alison is such a delight, and they send us coupons for free boxed lunches and invites to fun open houses throughout the year. I have even seen them in the community at career fairs for CCSD students! These are good people, and whether you are looking for a fresh meal in Athens, boxed lunches for a meeting, or food for hundreds, Honey Baked Ham is the way to go.

Just a delightful place to have lunch any day of the week! I have been coming to this location for 10 years and have always been thrilled with the owner, service, cleanliness of the restaurant, and quality of food. If you have never tried the Tavern Ham on toasted bread you will just fall in love with it! My wife loves the Ham Salad and hardly ever tries anything different. You just can’t beat their sandwiches – they are just fantastic!
