Absolutely incredible experience last night at Chotto Matte, been thinking about every dish since we left!
Our waiter, Roddy/Rodolfo was exceptional and testament to the restaurant and himself. So friendly, and knowledgable about the menu, the perfect level of attentive, and provided great recommendations, on both the cocktails (absolutely loved the Kakigori and Paloma Negra!) and food.
The food was incredible, highlights included the best gyoza we’ve ever eaten, the tastiest yellow tail as part of the Nigiri Platter and the crispy squid. Ended with the churros and a passion fruit crème brûlée- possibly the best crème brûlée you’ll ever have! We asked the Manager Steph if it would be possible to follow our meal with a night cap in the bar which was no trouble for her and she kindly arranged for us. We were thrilled to have a lovely table by the DJ, and finished the night with martinis and of course a tequila from the extensive menu.
Would highly recommend to anyone for their next special occasion, and will definitely be back. Huge thanks again to Roddy and Steph for making our evening so special.

But the highlight of our visit was definitely the service. Our waiter Rashkov was absolutely outstanding: he moved us to a nicer table, was incredibly kind and attentive, and kept checking in to make sure we were happy.
Honestly one of the best services I’ve ever experienced. He completely made our evening.

My partner and I had a birthday lunch here and it was lovely. We had the Edamame, Dragon Roll, Spicy Tuna Hako Roll, Black Cod, Huacatay Broccoli, and Wagyu Sirloin. For cocktails, I had the Pisco Sour, it was amazing!! Saukhyad S was our waiter and he was so knowledgeable and professional. Always checkered in with us about the food and with a smile. I highly recommend this restaurant. The ambience day time is way better in my opinion than dinner time.

We had a lovely evening overall — great atmosphere and excellent service (5/5).Food was very good (4/5): two dishes could be improved slightly, and the timing of serving felt a bit uneven (yuca fritta should have gone together with the Asada de tira – it arrives at the end of the meal and didn’t take a photo), but everything else was really enjoyable. A special thank you to our waiter Saukhyad — he was fantastic and took exceptional care of me with my allergies and gluten intolerance. We really appreciated how attentive and reassuring he was.

Edit/update: After my initial review on 16/12/2025 (see below), we were contacted by a manager, Molly, who kindly apologised for our bad experience and invited us back to the restaurant and offered us a discount. We accepted.
And this time the experience was excellent. The atmosphere was friendly and polite. The food was absolutely amazing. Me and my partner are both very glad that we managed to experience the space. I am still recovering from eating way too much.
Thank you Molly and also thanks to the lovely Italian waitress (sorry didn’t get her name) who was a delight to speak to and looked after us all night.

Wow. What a disappointment this was. I searched and compared restaurants for days for my husbands’ birthday and wanted to spoil him with a nice meal. Even though Chotto Matte had very mix reviews, I decided to give this a go. Well that was my bad obviously.
Me and my husband went there at 7.25 for the table I booked for 7.30. We walked in and told to the two ladies at the reception that we have a booking to celebrate my husband’s bday. They barely looked at our faces and told us to wait at the bar. No explanation. We waited at the bar for 20 minutes and weren’t even offered a drink menu. While people who arrived after us were being escorted to their table as soon as they walked in. We asked at the reception again and again were told to wait a little more. No explanation and barely paying any attention to us. We waited 10 more minutes before we finally talked to someone who looked like a manager. She told us to wait a bit more while she gets our table ready (this is after being left there for 30 minutes). We waited 5 more minutes and then packed our stuff and left. As we were leaving we were told that our table was being prepared. What a joke this place is. I am fuming that we were treated like this on my husbands birthday.
We then walked to a nearby restaurant called 10 Tib Lane who treated us so warmly and honestly we had one of the best meal of our lives (I highly recommend)

Was recommended to go this restaurant as it is the new “place to be” in Manchester so I was very excited to go. The Venue itself is stunning including all the interior and the atmosphere is great so it has a lot of potential. Sadly this was let down by the first hostess we met, we were greeted in a cold and unfriendly manner. We arrived at 9.25pm for a reservation at 9.30pm and was told in an abrupt way, it’s not ready till 9.30, go to the bar. We then went to the bar which was already overcrowded and waited, at 9.50pm we still had no update so approached another hostess that was passing and she told us she would go check with the front desk, she then returned and told us to go ask the hostess ourself. We spoke with the same hostess we first spoke to and she told us, I told you it’s not ready yet, we will tell you when it is. So again we went and waited at the bar. Finally at 10 someone come to collect us to take us to our table, our waiter come and said hello but said he couldn’t take our order as he had other tables to serve, fair enough as it was very busy. The food came and was nothing exceptional, the portions are good and it is well presented but the taste was not amazing as I would expect from the Chotto Matte concept. We also had to ask repeatedly for our table to be cleared. I ordered a second cocktail which never arrived.
Overall it was not great service, I think they need to prepare for how busy it will get and still deliver a top service which was not delivered on our experience.

Came here for drinks and a catch up with friends. Attend the bar area on the terrace the week it opened. Based on that experience, I have to give this place a full five starts. The staff were extremely attentive and pleasant. Drinks were full of flavour and the mexican-themed bar food menu was pretty fantastic. Views are great and in the summer, I’m sure this will be the place to come. As it was it’s first week, it wasn’t too busy.
I look forward to coming to the bar during a busy weekend and dining at the restaurant as well to get a more complete picture of this establishment.

Great place for either just a drink or food. The ambiance is much cooler than the one in London and the view of the city hall and Christmas market – as we visited in mid December – is splendid! One of the best in the city. We only had cocktails to start the evening this time for the menu is rather large and interesting; drinks were fresh, original and really good overall. While it’s clear the restaurant is still working through a few teething problems – which is completely understandable for a newer spot – the overall vibe and quality more than made up for it.
The staff were absolutely fantastic: friendly, attentive and genuinely eager to make sure we had a great time. Their positive energy really added to the experience and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived.
We opted for the signature sharing menu, and it proved to be excellent value for the quality and variety of food on offer. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavour, showcasing the restaurant’s creative fusion concept. My standout favourite was the sea bass ceviche – fresh, vibrant and perfectly balanced, it was an absolute highlight of the meal.
All in all, Chotto Matte Manchester shows huge promise. With its stylish setting, amazing staff and high-quality food that feels well worth the price, it’s definitely somewhere I’d recommend and look forward to revisiting as they continue to settle into their stride.
