Food was tasty, kinda pricey but yummy. Favorites were barbacoa de borrego & pastor. Quesadillas with flor de calabaza and huitlacoche were really good too. Only things I would change would be home-style casera salsas also homemade style corn tortillas would take this place over the top!

I’m from Mexico City and I always miss barbacoa de borrego. The only tasty barbacoa de borrego that I know is all the way in Utah. So it was worth driving half an hour to get to Barbacoa El Maguey. We also tried the tlacoyo with Pastor, the gordita with carnitas, huitlacoche quesadilla and they were absolutely delicious. I was very happy when I was enjoying my taco de barbacoa de borrego with the consomé. The waitress was SO nice and friendly. I absolutely LOVED the experience! I’m looking forward to come back!

The tortillas are homemade, so that’s nice, but the menuda was not good, and the prices are too high. I even got charged for a glass of water, might as well buy the bottle of water.

It’s a very good place to go to eat for your weekend breakfast needs. They have barbacoa de res y borrego, carnitas, menudo, and more. Everything was very good in terms of the food. Although it isn’t the best atmosphere (you can sit right next to the place where they have the drinks, for example), it makes up for it in terms of the service.
