Drop in for a quick tamale but I wouldn’t recommend anything else.
The service was horrible. We were greeted by a kind older man who took our drink order and brought them out and said the server would be right there. It took awhile for someone to come and when we arrived there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant, both finishing their meal. Eventually someone came to take our order (I think one of the cooks?) One other table came in and the normal server went to greet them and take their order and proceeded to walk by us 3 times without saying anything while checking in his original two tables and the new table. We waited awhile for our app of chips, salsa and guacamole. We eventually had to flag down the guy and ask about it. He said he would go get that and when he came back it was with all of our food and said it was all ready at one so he just brought it.
The food itself was sub par and I would not recommend anything we ordered except the chicken tamale smothered in green chili (that was tasty). My chicken and shrimp tacos al cart came out over loaded with lettuce and tomato’s which was odd bc the photos showed the tacos with onion and cilantro. They willing fixed it but said that’s how those to came which is not stated on the menu. Both my tacos were unflavored and my chicken was very dry. My husband didn’t enjoy his taco plate very much. He had asada and carnitas. The asada was okay and the carnitas were mostly fatty. The guacamole was bland and the salsa had a good chunk to it but still just decent.

Went here for breakfast, got a coffee and sausage breakfast burrito with verde. Huge portion, filled with plenty of sausage and egg and the verde sauce had a nice heat and spice without being too much. Friendly staff and good service.

We are blessed with so many great eats in Taos and Sabor Real has been consistently rising as a favorite amongst favorites. Their al pastor tacos are knockouts. Tonight was the first time I had the choco-flan anywhere and WOW I could make myself sick on too much of that. It’s so pleasantly surprisingly different than my preconceived notions of flan (which are also good). This elevates the dessert to heavenly palette textures with the top like the softest, fluffiest cloud of a brownie and the base of a gentle (not too heavy) cheesecake. I decided I have to leave a review based on this dessert tonight. The tacos are plenty reason to go. And the service is always kind and proficient, as well. The space since they have expanded is even better now, also. I highly recommend this convivial, open-hearted restaurant full of Joyful plates of many delicious colores.

Why 3 Five Stars but 4 Stars overall?
Coffee. Mine was excellent. Deb had none since she drinks decaf due to health reasons. Everything else was really very good with a presentation and preparation just unique enough to be noticed and more than good enough to be remembered.
Deb had a scrambled veggie omelette and a pancake. I had huevos rancheros with green. Both dishes came with hash browns and refried beans. The hash browns were very good – not the least bit greasy but nicely browned and crispy.
Eggs were cooked to order and the chili was excellent.
Their menu is extensive so I’m looking forward to a return visit.

The service was terrible. They never came near the table to ask if we needed anything like refills. They brought the food but we had to wait for utensils. After eating i wanted dessert but the waitress never came close by. She kept passing over and over. She talked and sit with her friends. We never got a ticket I had get up to request it. I left without tasting dessert and no refills.
This table in front got more attention then my table.

Service was fantastic. Good food, well prepared and quickly served. Plus they have this red taco sauce…not a thick red sauce like New Mexico is used to, this is a taco sauce, made with red chile and garlic for sure, maybe some vinegar. It is hot and tasty, and you can buy it to go in a cup. I’ll be back for more, it’s the best taco sauce I’ve ever had. Replacing Valentina Extra Hot in my house.

Ended up here after all the other top rated places in town were slammed busy. Walked in here to only two other tables in the whole place. Never been to a Mexican restaurant that charges you $7 for chips and salsa and never offered a refill on chips. No queso at all on the menu. Sat without drink refills for 20 minutes (all we had were waters.. again only a couple other tables in the whole place). Asada tacos came out cold. Rest of the food was subpar. Quality did not match the $15-20 per plate they charge.

We stopped here for lunch one day while traveling through Taos. We had the best chicken nachos ever. Great flavor and no greasy residue. Whole beans, grilled chicken and considerable toppings. The staff was outstanding, engaging and professional. I highly recommend stopping here for good eats in a non pretentious environment.

Great local food and wonderful service. I recommend the pork tamales with green sauce and rolled tacos. Throw in a bottled Coke and some homemade chips and salsa and you’ve got yourself a good meal. The service was amazing and friendly too.

We came for breakfast but forgot to take photos of our plates. Husband ordered the ham and cheese omelette with wheat toast and I ordered two eggs over easy with ham and flour tortillas. Both plates also included a small side of hash browns and refried beans, and we enjoyed everything. The service was very friendly and efficient. The desserts looked delicious! Next time we will try lunch or dinner and dessert.
