Mmmm. This is good Chinese food! And so close to mountain creek and great gorge village. Very friendly staff. Sweet and sour chicken was both sweet and sour. Beef and broccoli was garlicy and tasty and beefy. Egg foo young was nicely portioned for 3 people, and had a nice light brown gravy.

I am something of an egg roll connoisseur and after trying 4 other places nearby in Franklin, 2 places in Warwick, and Suffern, NY, China Star has the best!!! Generous amount of vegetable and meat filling, hot and crispy, wonderfully TASTY!!! Kyle is so friendly and helpful. Hands down the best egg rolls around!!!
I also ordered the BEST Eggplant in garlic sauce I have ever tasted. Kyle even added extra garlic for me. Truly delicious!!!

I hate to say but my wife and were not happy with the food, I think the rush making the food, the fride dumplings were raw on one side plus no taste, wanton in the soup tasted raw was hard, fried rice tasted burned, the ribs were burned and tasted burned. we should have went with pizza station.

Filthy take out joint. Grease on the walls. Kitchen looks disgusting. Garbage all around. Beyond vile. Food is so bad. Greasy slop. Just stay away. It gets no worse then this. Plus, their prices are higher then similar take out places. Run from here.

Sweet n sour chicken was all small over fried pieces…chicken fried rice was nothing but seasoned rice with a few onions…sautéed to heat the rice…certainlynot fried as it should be…no veggies…no egg…all fried rice is supposed to have both…not a fan…

Got hungry late at night and decided to hit this Chinese food spot with almost everything being closed. Was surprised. The food was great, my fried dumplings were tasty and the sauce was adequate. The egg roll was a bit soggy and tender instead of crunchy. Good flavor though. The boneless spare ribs are great tasting and tender, succulent and flavorful. Overall great food for the price point and timing.

I found this to be some of the best Chinese food I have ever had. Chinese is one of my favorite cuisines and I have had more than my fair share of Chinese food from all over the world and China Star is really delicious. My favorite item is the shrimp rolls, I get a take out order at least once a week. The service is friendly and polite plus the food is a flavor explosion. We have ordered most of the offerings here and have never been disappointed. I’m so grateful this place is in my community. Keep up the great work and Thank YOU

Honestly…… I wouldn’t and didn’t feed this to my compost pile. Rubbery clumps of impressively dark noodles (Vegetable Lo Mein with a sprinkle of broccoli & a few slivers of onions), excessively oily Egg Drop soup and Dumpling soup (similar to drinking canola oil), over abundance on the bland breading on the (shrimp & chicken). Hey, enough soy sauce was provided to wash it down. I wasn’t expecting top notch. I also wasn’t expecting food of this quality. I placed our order a few minutes after 3pm. I’ll chaulk it up to my mistake of ordering between the lunch/dinner window. All in all the pan fried dumplings were decent. If you’re against wasting food that’s great but sending out orders that are obviously filled with days old food is unacceptable. The photo provided is straight out of the carton approx 3 minutes after delivery. Lesson learned.

Lowered rating. Food was great but quality has dropped dramatically over the last year.
The last few times we ordered wonton soup the wontons were mushy and tasted uncooked. The sesame chicken sauce was thin and bland.
The only thing that seems to have retained the quality is the egg rolls, sadly.

I moved to Sussex County recently, originally from Passaic. And sadly it’s starting to seem like most restaurants in this area are sub-par. China Star seems to be one of them. The first time I ordered the food was okay. Not bad, not great, just okay. I figured I’d give it a couple of more tries to see if it was an off day. I’ve tried it 4 times since then, and sadly, the first time I ordered has been the best the food ever was. The lo mein is too oily, “crispy” dishes are mush by the time its delivered/ready for pickup, and the dumplings are better categorized as dough balls. Not only that, but service has been exceptionally slow. Food takes forever to be ready, yet is lukewarm and soggy by the time you eat it, which really makes no sense. I don’t think I’ll be going back here again. I’ll drive to Passaic County for better Chinese Restaurants.
