Awesome food and great service every time! This little hole in the wall restaurant is the best in Gardnerville! Love the food and the people make you feel welcome. Great margaritas! The pictures show the 3 enchilada combo and the Cadillac margaritas and the main entrance area, from the middle of the restaurant.

This was unequivocally one of the most wonderful dining experiences I’ve had in ages. From the moment we sat outside on their quaint patio overlooking the mountains and valley, they brought out salsas and hot bean dip, waters and took our beer and margarita orders. My torta was perfection, and the Mexican tacos and ceviche tostadas were sublime. We got two minute checks every two minutes, our water was never empty and the chips were always hot. Then they brought out a little dessert and it was the cutest freaking touch. Absolutely adored this place. This hole in the wall filled a hole in my heart.

As always, we risk visiting new restaurants that have mixed reviews, but we found this restaurant to be enjoyable and the food was very tasty! Our server was kind and attentive and our food arrived promptly. We started with a bowl of corn chips and three dipping sauces, refried beans, green salsa and a red salsa, very nice and not too spicy or salty! Our main entrees were a combo plate of chicken enchiladas with rice and beans, and a combo of veggie fajitas with rice and beans. The vegetables were very different from other Mexican stir fried vegetables , they were flavored with a hint of cinnamon, delicious! The restaurant was clean and colorful, we were glad that we paid them a visit! We also were treated to a lovely dessert at the end of our meal, a fried tortilla chip with honey and cinnamon and a dollop of whipped cream, excellent!

Where do I start? The Strawberry Margharita – horrid. Tasted metallic. Definitely a cheap bottled or canned mix. Food – I can’t believe this place has 4.5 stars. Had a chicken enchilada – chewy meat. Shredded-beef taco – heavy-handed on the oregano or tarragon – couldn’t quite put my finger on what the strange taste was. The shell seemed to be one of those pre-made, pre-shaped corn-chip tortilla types. The chili relleno – one of the worst I have ever had, and I know bad rellenos because I make a really horrible relleno; hence my search for a great one at a restaurant – this wasn’t it. The glob of cheese inside, as it cooled, became rubbery. The rice was bland and not memorable. The refried beans were runny and mashed to smithereens.
One more comment about the customer service. I commented on the lousy $12!!!! margherita and the cashier, also my server, glanced over at my table. It was clearly obvious I might have taken 3 draws-on-the-straw’s worth of it and left the rest. No offer to take it off the bill or even discount the price. Why didn’t I mention it to her during the meal? She NEVER stopped at my table after taking my order.
Out of the 3 Mexican restaurants I have tried in Minden – this is #7!

Horrid would be a good start. Chicken enchilada, – something odd tasting and bland. Shredded beef taco – again, odd tasting. A tad heavy handed – maybe too much oregano or tarragon. Wasn’t pleasant. Chili relleno – one of the worst I have ever had. And I know bad rellenos because I can’t make one that’s any good. Strawberry margarita – tinny aftertaste. Definitely a cheap mix of some sort. Out of the 3 zmexican restaurants I have tried, this ranks #7!!! I won’t be back but I will recommend YOU DON’T go.

As someone who very much enjoys Mexican food and has eaten at many restaurants, I have to say, this may be the best I’ve ever had. 100% would recommend. I had the street taco combination plate with shredded beef, but based on my experience, I would bet their entire menu is stellar.

A nice family run restaurant in Minden. The family are very friendly and helpful. The menu has a variety of appetizers, salads and main dishes. The Chile Verde is really quite nice here, with good portions. The pork is tender and the chile itself has a nice, warm, mildly spicy flavor. Their tamales and enchiladas are homemade, and also well-done. Prices are fair, and the atmosphere is light, clean and comfortable, with seating that isn’t too crowded together. The owners take great pride in their restaurant (the husband personally cooks everything) and often check to see that patrons are happy.

Excellent Mexican food! We had Carnitas and Enchilada Verde, very good! Margaritas were delicious! With chips they provide 3 dips; red salsa, green salad, and bean dip. Worth a return visit!
