Great addition to Mars Hill. Bagels are great. Naturally crispy and soft inside. Good load of cream cheese. Coffee is good(I like an extremely dark roast and this is dark, and toasty). Great start for the day. Will definitely come back and try some other food.

I ordered a sandwich on a sub roll. It was very sloppily put together; mustard and mayo dominating the other ingredients. I could forgive that if I’d been treated like other customers I watched come in and out. Mars Hill isn’t a diverse place, and I definitely felt that in the service I received. However, when other guests came in, they were greeted with excitement and even told where to to pick up their food or theirs was brought to them. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place as a welcoming place for all people.

I’ve been living in the area for about 3 years now and could never find a true bagel until recently when I stumbled into Joey’s! Wow! These remind me of a true northeast bagel! Big and delicious! The service was super friendly and quick. I’ll definitely keep coming back.

To be fair we were the last customers of the day but still… I have never had such a bad bagel sandwich in my life. The bagel was not toasted and was chewy. I don’t even know where to begin with how awful the egg was. It had zero flavor of anything, no seasoning at all, it definitely did not taste like an egg. Maybe it was microwaved or something because the texture and consistency was very strange and plastic like. The cheese was somehow slimy and dry. The bacon was cold and hard. It was just awful!!
My friend ordered 2 bagels and they were not very good either. They seemed baked and not toasted. The sesame was worse than the plain.
The restaurant itself was a strange kind of steamy hot.
A very disappointing experience.
The counter lady was nice though.

We had two different bagel sandwiches. A breakfast version and a turkey bacon.
Bagels were fine. The breakfast version was really good, the turkey bacon was a bit on the bland side, even with an everything bagel. The food came out fresh and fast, the establishment was clean, and the staff was friendly. The prices were competitive with competing establishments in other locations.

Had the egg and cheese on Asiago and added onion and tomato. This was weirdly bland, including the bagel. It was the only vegetarian sandwich option, which seems like a miss. I was told I could remove meat or lox from other sandwiches to make them vegetarian… C’mon, folks, there are so many great options for veggie bagel sandwiches! Hummus? Guac? Or even plant-based meats. My partner eats meat and had the club, and the fillings were good but the bagel was again not as good as we’d expect from a place dedicated to bagels.

Happy to see Mars Hill getting more options, and I’ve always loved the Asheville Joey’s Bagels. I’m hoping this one eventually offers more of the same options as the others. Overall, it’s decent for a quick grab-and-go, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way to drive to for breakfast.

So happy for this addition to Mars Hill. They have a good variety of cream cheese and bagels, and lox! The bagels are crisp on the outside with a nice softness inside. The service is friendly.
