A let down for sure.. had a lot of anticipation going in. The shaved ice was ok… wasn’t special.. just ok. The cheese toast I got was completely disgusting. It was dry and cheese was not melted as it should.

Probably save myself a few bucks and hit the Taiwanese spots next time..

That guy Jacob is so funny and nice. He made our anniversary night even more memorable!

Place is clean and it looks like the employees really like to be there. The prices make sense for the quality of the product and man does it taste like they made it with love.

Absolutely great experience this is my new go to spot!

This is the Rowland Heights outlet of Sul & Bean the Korean bingsoo chain which are serving shaved ice treats. They have a decent choice of flavors for your toppings such as red bean, green tea and others. They also serve sweetened roasts with various buttery or creamy and nutty toppings. It’s a good stop for desserts after your meals at this restaurant heavy mall.

Locate in Diamond Plaza next to Charles Schwab before underground parking entrance
Is not crowded on Thursday night at 7 pm with many available tables, but they fill pretty fast.
2 tables outdoor
Order before sitting down, pager giving after ordering.
Shaved ice and toast display is next to the cashier
Free self-service fruits water drink and cups on the right side by entrance
We ordered 3 shaved ice (soy, watermelon and mango) and 2 toasts (soy & black sesame).
I like soy shaved ice and toast, it is not as sweet as the other 2 flavors.
Black sesame toast is a little bitter and sweet at the same time.
The watermelon cube is frozen.

The manager really knows how to take care of his customers. After we ordered the food, we left but when came back, the food seems eaten. The manager quickly apologized and gave us 2 more fish cakes on the house and of course remade the whole order. This type of service is super rare nowadays especially in Asian communities. Highly recommended.

Tried this place for the first time, and we all loved it. I loved the texture of the shaved ice. Very nice and fluffy, and not too sweet. Their cappuccino was also very good. This will be one of our new go to places for dessert.

The matcha custard taiyaki was just great!
Not a big fan of the brown sugar taiyaki, not enough filling. I liked my drink alright, though we did order them hot and received iced versions instead. The atmosphere was nice, very busy but fast service 🙂

Tried the strawberry shaved ice and it was okay. The shaved ice had little flavors, without the condense milk, it tasted bland. However, the shop was packed so it is really popular! I see others ordering the black sesame bingsoo, Maybe I should give it one more try next time with a different Bingsoo!

Korean bingsoo has always been a fancy looking dessert. Anyways, I would like to talk about the place first. There are multiple Sul & Beans branches and this review is specifically for the one in Rowland Heights. The place is clean and pretty cozy for group hangouts. However it may not be as suitable for remote work, you’d probably be better off going to Starbucks for that because it can get really loud in here when the place is packed. The seats are also arranged pretty close together, so just keep that in mind.

Let’s get started with the desserts:

Taro Bingsoo : Not bad. For those of you that have never had bingsoo. Think of it like smoothies but with reduced sweetness, not because they aren’t sweet but because they are served with a mountain of shaved ice. I love the rice cake that came with it (my favorite part of any bingsoo, I love chewy food). As for the flavor, I thought they were natural enough, so cheers to that (artificial flavors? Boo to that!).

Injeolmi Toast: I think I prefer the one in Koreatown because I thought the bread were too burnt in this branch (could just be the fact that I came at prime time and they had too many orders to serve). As a result, they didn’t taste chewy and just tasted really sweet. Not great.

Overall, I think if you would like to get some desserts, you can take bingsoo into your consideration, and if you chose Sul & Beans and would like to also try their awesome toast? I would recommend the Koreatown branch due to the better toast quality there.

There was no greeting or any communication when entering the store, the staff had their backs to the shaved ice. There was no intention of receiving the order at the counter. The sanitation of the toilet almost made me faint. The sink was blocked by paper towels and the toilet was also dirty. I ordered mango shaved ice, and the mango flesh was hard and sour with oversweet mango syrup.
