I guess worth trying so you know if you want to return or not.
It’s unlikely I will unless I’m feeling desperate. Or next time I’ll try a burrito to be able to review that.
Their salsa is good. 3 out of 4 are good. Rojo, verde, habanero are all good. The avocado salsa could be better!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m still looking for a spot in Iowa to satisfy. I have yet to be happy about any place I’ve reviewed so far.
I love the color of the tortillas good flavor but could be fried a little more crispier, they were too SOFT in mine and my husband’s opinion.
Horchata was okay. I will not be buying it again. It didn’t taste authentic to me. I prefer the rice grain texture and this didn’t have it. Not what I am looking for. I also prefer fresh cinnamon stick, this one tasted like cinnamon seasoning. Gross they’re not authentic enough for my liking. Trying to cater to Iowan native makes them lose stars. You guys think this is good but go to California and try REAL AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD
The carne asada was good and tender but I prefer smaller pieces not chunks. It was also a bit thin for California style preference, we eat thicker cuts of carne asada. My husband said good flavor though. I agree. Could use a little more salt or flavor personally whatever they use.
I ordered with grilled onion, didn’t know they wouldn’t put fresh but okay. In California you have the option of both. I guess that’s not the case for Iowa.
Also, I did not like that they put the salsa on the side. I prefer they put the salsa on my tacos for me. California style
Anywho, enjoy my review have a lovely experience for yourself. It’s mid in my opinion.
Hubby says tortillas are too soggy with grease!!!
This is for Eduardo, he said “if you’re going to cook your tortillas in grease, make sure they’re crispy not soggy ” Gracias amigo. I like turtles
Update, Came back for lunch and tried the Torta Cubana. This thing is massive, so you better be hungry. There are lots of different flavors going on. Which makes it very tasty.
If TNT stood for another thing it would be Tasty N Terrific.
I’m all about the street tacos here and they are consistently delicious. Made to order, hot and fresh.
Nice size menu, easy to decide.
Nice choices of drinks. Including aqua frescas!
Service is consistently excellent. Friendly, helpful, patient and accommodating. Shop is always clean and upkept in a timely manner.
Can get busy during the lunch hour! But there’s always a spot for dine in. I love the taco truck vibe without having to be outdoors looking for a spot to sit. This is a nice sit down for a quick bite to eat.
Price for 3 tacos $9.97
Aqua Fresca $3.99
Soda and bottled drinks $2-3
Churro $3.xx
Can easily spend $40 with gratuity for lunch.
I recommend TNT for your street taco cravings if you’re in the west side of Des Moines!
Caso and chips is great with a nice kick of spice.
Abodo or salsa was great with a hint of smoke and a great flavor of chipotle peppers
El pastor was not the best I ever had, but it was real damn good.
Staff was energetic and very polite. I tipped more than normal due to the guy at the front.
Bread for the sandwiches was light and very soft bread. It was great and tasted like it was made in house.
Cons:
bread could have been toasted to help from falling apart
El pastor normally comes with pineapple and cilantro. Personally, I would have liked my el pastor sandwich with some grilled pineapple and cilantro. The pork was good, but the spicy adobo sauce they gave me would have gone great with the sweetness of grilled pineapple.
Would I eat there again?
Yes. I never had a “Mexican” sandwich. It was good but if I go again going to try the tacos. I did not take a real through look, but if they are Mexican there has to be a chorizo option.
Over all the meal I got was good and good portions since I could not finish all my meal. Chips and salsa make a awesome snack so win win. Out of ten sporks… I give 7/10
Didn’t even offer anything for the huge inconvenience or even apologize for the issues. Somehow we eneded the bad guys for ordering food from their restaurant.
