Moving reviews over from Yelp. Originally published in 2017 and, based on the horrible experience we had there, never visited again.

Really poor showing from this restaurant for all of the reasons that Charleen S. detailed in her review. Why am I giving them an extra star? Mainly because my food at spice level 4 of 6 (that was originally served to her and represented to be 1 of 6) was pretty dang good. Not great but pretty good. Still, the experience was miserable enough that we won’t be back.

Of note, the place has “injera” in their name but somehow they ran out and offered us naan instead. I’m a pretty big fan of naan. I’m also a pretty big fan of garlic bread but neither of them are injera and neither really goes with Ethiopian food. Seriously?!? How the hell does a place run out of an item that’s part of their name. Craziness!

Update! Still awesome!!

Best meal ever! Seriously! So good. I ordered way too much food and it was all good. Ate from the Indian side of the menu, but the Ethiopian fishes sounded delicious too. Do yourself a favor and go enjoy this place! Prices very reasonable and food is amazing!

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this place. It’s very clean in the inside. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and the dal soup is my favorite and the best ive had so far! I like the variety of vegetarian options and I like how if I order DoorDash and I call and ask for an extra tamarin chutney. They give it to me with no issues and they’re always very friendly. Thank you guys so much.

Favorite indian food ever. Workers are kind and the restaurant is calm even on busier days. Ive never had this specific flavor in any other restaurant! Even the side dishes are packed full of flavor 🙂

ABSOLUTELY AVOID! This place is a total scam. I ordered a $16 Chicken Tikka Masala for takeout and got… well, everything but the chicken. Seriously, just a container of sauce. What a rip-off. Don’t waste your money here.

Had a late lunch and everything was fantastic. They didn’t have mango lassi even though it was one the menu and the Opera cake was a bit stale. The naan was some of the best we have had. The Samosa Chat was delicious and I loved how the toppings were sauced. I enjoyed the Ethiopian vegetarian platter – especially the cabbage/carrot dish.

After a long hiatus (mostly due to getting parked/around that area when students are back at UC), 4 of us revisited Elephant Walk last Friday for dinner. We were THRILLED that we returned. We all ordered from the Ethiopian menu and the food was incredible. Fresh, flavorful, interesting, budget friendly & crave worthy (photo is vegetarian combo platter & mushroom appetizer). Two of us ordered the $5 spicy tamarind margarita & loved that too. 100% will be back & highly recommend. I am sure the N. Indian menu is delicious too but having solid Ethiopian food in this area is not typical. 4 star for atmosphere because the music (pop, odd) & lighting need lil help. GO!

We got a couple orders of Lamb Saag, and chicken Bharta, and everything was wonderful. The portions are large the prices are very reasonable and the service is speedy. They’re not as wonderful but this last time we decided to get some injera, which actually worked wonderful with the saag! Since they have both cultures in this restaurant we might as well mix them at our table right?

Update 2023: Still delicious. This time they told us the spice level was out of 10. Menu still says 6. I got 5, I’m not sure if that was 5/10 or 5/6. My girlfriend for 2/? and it was perfect, a friend with us got 3/? and it was a bit spicy for his taste but otherwise he was also super impressed.
Always delicious, always.

(A few years ago) I had lunch here yesterday. The food was amazing, I had the Ethiopian Veggie Platter. All of the veggie dishes on the Ethiopian side of the menu are vegan which was very welcomed. I got 4/6 on the heat scale it was perfect for me. My girlfriend got 3/6 chicken saag, it was a bit too hot for her, however she powered through as best she could because it was so delicious. The sambussas on the Ethiopian side of the menu were the real star of the show, we were both amazed by how flavourful they are.

Ordered takeout an hour before the restaraunt closed, the staff had turned off doordash orders and didn’t end up seeing it until 30 minutes later. We heard the staff cursing while making the food which is understandable, but you guys were still open. The lady rushed to give us the bag of food which was put entirely in a bag, once we got home however, it’s was obvious that there was an intentionally melted hole in the top of the to-go container, which had been placed upside down in the bag. All the sauce had spilled out and broke through the paper bag, staining many personal belongings with turmeric.
