It was a wonderful and memorable dinner. Too sad we came on our last night, otherwise I’d be here more times to try the entire menu.
Owner explained the whole menu for us and the dry aging process of the fish. He was an incredible host, recommended his favourite dishes, and a foodie always recognises another very discerning food obsessed chef. He’s also Italian so although we didn’t ordered any of the pasta dishes, I am sure they would be cooked correctly
The charcuterie was really an experience for me, the variety and flavour of this starter amazing. The tartare was also full of flavour. Everything was excellent.
Service – perfect. They surprise you eith the higher level of service, explaining each meal, suggesting their best, and adjusting to your preferences.
Atmosphere was nice. You enter into cozy, beach bar like decorated and clean restaurant.
Staff is sweet, as mentioned, they take a good care of you. The owner was present on the starter dish, explaining which fish and sauce combination is recommended.
By the way, the owner catches all his fish, and smokes them too.
The restaurant isn’t for masses, they have just enough seats for like two small families or 6 pairs. We were pleasantly surprised when we got to pay for meal of three, because for that price, it what an amazing deal, simply flabbergasted, how this can exist.
Smoked fish was marvelous. It didn’t smell fishy nor tasted salty. They were tender and tasteful, combining the taste of fish itself and light smoke. With the combination of different sauces, we couldn’t stop. White local wine Cha fit well with the fish. Main dishes couldn’t be any better, simply wonderful.
The owner personally introduced the restaurant’s concept and presented the dishes, which made the evening feel warm and special.
The restaurant is new and focuses on incredibly fresh, locally caught fish, including dry-aged fish matured in a temperature-controlled cabinet for deeper flavor. The menu beautifully blends Italian cuisine with Cape Verdean fish traditions, creating dishes that are both creative and memorable.
The wine recommendation was excellent and matched the food perfectly, adding even more to the experience.
A place with passion, soul, and fantastic food. Highly recommended!
The quality and taste of the food was excellent, against a reasonable price.
We could recommend this restaurant to have joyful evening. Thank you team Baraonda ❤️.
Waitress insisted on food order same time as drinks order. Wine came followed by starters straight away and mains 5mins later. Surly serve wine while we ponder on menu.
Received incredibly good service from the staff. which is otherwise a scarce commodity in Cape Verde. The owner also gladly took his time to tell us about how he fished and how the process of hanging tenderizing is done. ABSOLUTELY worth a detour just to eat here.
This was such an awesome dinner. Well done Baraonda!
Ended on a bad note because the waitress pressed the option to charge us in our home currency when she put the card payment through which meant it cost us more than it should have. Whether or not this was intentional I’m not sure, but it is a legal requirement for them to allow the customer to make this choice and staff should be properly trained on how to use the machines.
Edit: you have completely ignored the fact that what you did is illegal. It is the customers choice, and selecting the non local currency on their behalf is essentially stealing as the point of sale adds a huge markup. It’s not about the bank charging extra: your point of sale literally adds on a fee which you get to keep at the moment you select that option. Disappointing response.
