Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn’t help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we’re still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Circa-1950 fast-food chain for counter-serve burgers, some stacked with multiple patties.

I dined at many locations while living out West. But, this location did not live up to the reputation. I received good service. Though, honestly, everyone working there was just noticeably shy and timid. I think the manager was the only one making eye contact with anyone. I did not wait long after ordering, <5 minutes. I did not dine-in, but seating was available. Not a spot for a large group as the dining room is pretty small. The food was fresh, not overcooked. However, they had my burger wrapped up with lettuce and fried breading, which were not the toppings, leaving the impression that they were not keeping a clean and tidy work area. Also, they were running low on a lot of things and were complete out of key items. Several sodas were completely out, including Dr. Pepper. For those that are familiar with Whataburger, thats a big deal! The napkins were being kept behind the counter, only available by request, as were all condiments. The really big one though, and this is major, they were completely out of Spicy Ketchup?! HOW DOES THE MANAGER FORGET TO ORDER SPICY KETCHUP?! Yes, that is what I was told. That’s their condiment claim to fame! That would be like Chik-fil-A or Raising Cane’s running out of their signature sauces?! It never happens at those establishments, as should be the expectation for Whataburger and their Spicy Ketchup! Two whole stars lost to being out of Dr. Pepper and Spicy Ketchup and another for the mystery toppings. Otherwise, good experience.
We were driving north on I-75 from Atlanta when I saw the Whataburger billboard, missed the exit of course but I did turn the car around. I got a double, fries (girlfriend stole most of those) and a chocolate shake. So much juicy goodness, I closed my eyes for a few minutes to try and bring myself back to better times but then I remembered that I was driving at high speeds in heavy traffic so I thought it best that I open the eyes and concentrate on the road.
Lobby was closed for whatever reason so there were cars in the drive thru wrapping around the building but the line moved pretty fast. I didnt get anyones name but the female voice on the intercom, the guy at the window and the lady at the end who handed us our food were all super friendly. Armed security guard keeping an eye out for trouble and keeping us all safe was an unexpected nice touch. Thank you Mr. Security Guard, Im guessing that you don’t hear that enough.
If anybody has stuck around and is still reading this I just want to HIGHLY recommend that you go there a minimum of 4 times a week. Breakfast, lunch, dinner they got it all.
Only thing problem I had was that I didn’t see the Whatacatch (fish sandwich) on the menu. Not sure if its now a seasonal thing. Discontinued or good chance I just didn’t see it on the board.
Not sure how many times that I’ll be finding myself road tripping thru the Great State of Kentucky but Whataburger will always the stop for nourishment.
This part is for the Owners, shareholders, staff, employees and and one of Authority that I have failed to mention: Please please pretty please in the name of all that’s holy please expand in to nortwest/west central Ohio Dont bother going to Cleveland or Columbus, they have enough stuff.
Thank you

“ I sat and heard how the new male manager treated those employees, rude and unprofessionally! He was nasty, antagonizing, very loud and made a complete scene being extremely aggressive and had no consideration for the employees or customers! That was totally uncalled for! I visited this place at night frequently and never had a problem and was treated with care by the workers. Since this new management came about it’s been horrible! I will not be coming to this location again!”
For this place to be as new as it is, the whole restaurant was a mess. We went on a Saturday afternoon and were greeted by a spilled milkshake at the door and had to step over it to enter. There was a manager that was sitting on a bench outside who came back in about 10 minutes after we entered so I know she had to see it. It was still there when we left.
Every table was dirty and there were fries and other trash throughout the dining area. The two front employees were standing at the counter with their jackets off their shoulders. One dropped a box of cups and it sat there for the next 15 minutes while we ate. Of course, some of our order was wrong and I had to show them on the ticket. No ketchup was brought with our order even though we had to order it with our meal on the kiosk. The syrup to carbonation ratio was off on the left hand side coke dispenser, the right one was better.
For the price of a Whataburger meal now, I expect better. I’m tired of recommending Whataburger because they are all terrible now. Do the franchisees even pay attention to these reviews???
